Married guys: is your wife expecting you to babysit more than ever during the COVID lockdown?

Not at all. But I have been doing most of the cooking, voluntarily. I like cooking, and it takes a lot of pressure off my wife.

When you're a parent it isn't "babysitting." It's being a parent.

And your wife is probably expecting you to parent your children because...you are their parent.

If you wanted commiseration, maybe a better way to phrase this is. .... my wife is appreciating my being home so much. She can actually accomplish some things on her to-do list, because I am spending time with our children.

I miss going to work, though. Taking care of children all day is harder than I thought. Can anyone feel me?

Stop posting here and save the time to get some parenting done.

1/10. So she's asking you to do something, unlike during normal times when you take the kids off of her hands while she continues to work making your dinner. Nice troll but not subtle enough. The troll would have been better had you asked something like whether you should be entitled to more back door access for watching the kids more during the time of Corona. That would have generated many more posts.

So basically during a normal night, your wife works all the time (cooks and then parents) while you only work 50% of the time (you slack off after dinner)?

You may have been splitting the "watching the child" but she was doing way more than you as she was also cooking.

Babysit? ITS YOUR OWN CHILDREN. It not called babysitting. Its called parenting.

How old are your kids? If they're old enough, can't you just send them outdoors or give them technology?

Lol umm thats not how it works. Its called having kids.

Rojo nailed it. Pre covid, you weren't babysitting the kids so your wife could have some Xbox time. You were watching them so she could make dinner for the whole family. She was working so that you could do the bare minimum. Did she ever get time to herself?

Glad you're parenting now. Maybe do some extra, like cook dinner for her and the kids for a change, and keep up the parenting once this quarantine ends. Time with your kids is what you signed up for when you became a parent.

it's not getting on a high horse to practice basic parenting of your own children.. It seems like a lot of adults seem to think that taking care of their family is like some big monuments ask. They were coddled and just never grew up. So now they expect to be taken care of by their spouses.
