What do you think? Idiot stoner? Enlightened master conversationalist? Or something in between?
DISCUS.
His podcast gets something like 60 million downloads per month. That number radically exceeds the size of audience of any other interviewer in history. Like him or not, he is one of the most powerful and popular human beings alive.
While he has gotten much better since the early days of his podcast, I wouldn't really call him a master conversationalist, though he does generally do an excellent job of keeping a conversation going in a lively direction. His biggest strengths are radical openness, interest in pretty much everything, and lack of judgement or agenda. He will talk with pretty much anyone and simply allows his guests to talk for hours regardless of their viewpoints. That alone puts him above at least 90% of interviewers on TV.
I say all this as someone who has probably only listened to 25-30 of his podcasts all the way through. I've watched tons of clips from dozens more podcasts though.
