Not to diminish his current ordeal but it was 4.5 hours 15 years ago.
so what you're saying is he was probably in better-than-typical shape
Starting to think I had CV a year ago. All of a sudden my temp spiked up. Almost overnight I was out no energy bad cough, sore throat. Was out on my feet for 3 days just stayed in bed then took another 10 days to feel somewhat alive. For 3 plus weeks had zero energy to do anything. Even the simplist of tasks would wipe me out. To shower I had to bring a stool into the shower with me as I could no stand for more than a minute. Slowly I started to feel normal again but it took weeks.
You probably had the flu. Symptoms of COVID are nonspecific and not different from flu.
As far as the lawyer guy, no surprise. Everyday on a vent you’re sedated and basically not moving. It will take him months to get his strength back. He sounds pretty fit by lay standards. I doubt his mild asthma had much to do w him getting COVID, just bad luck/genetics. Hope he recovers well.
I love how everyone on letsrun rushes to look up his race results ?

Yeah, calling him a marathoner now is like your mom saying she is hot.......15 years ago.
Wait. Marathons can get sick too!?
It is just one method to determine is the guy has any 'street cred' or is/was really just a fun runner.
Based on his unclaimed times on Athlinks, I am going with fun runner.
Nothing wrong with that btw.

What is the point of thread like this? Anecdotal evidence is irrelevant. We know that 99% of the deaths are elderly or overweight or had other condition. That means there are 1% who will be average age and average health.
I wasn't trying to make a point about Covid19. I was just wondering why the article would focus on him being a marathon runner when he hasn't run one in over 15 years.

4.5 hours is not really a "Marathon runner" or is it?

So he never actually ran a marathon. He walk jogged a marathon.
That’s just gross. I’ve never been that drunk.
This guy have a malpractice lawsuit down the road? If ventilators are shown to be the exact wrong treatment for this crisis?
2 weeks back I decided to do some hoeing in the garden and after 10 minites it started to rain so I went to go get my jacket. Walked up to the house and I was put of breath I'm a 15 minute 5k 32 90mpw. I remember felt like I had just done intervals. I decided to go get a shower and couldn't breath or have energy to shower myself. I had to turn shower off and catch my breath to try and wash myself. I ended up laying on bathroom floor trying to breath. I don't know if it'd cause I had virus or cause I didn't eat for 2.5 days as I had just been dumped but now I think it was virus as now she has it.
“man who, 15 years ago used to be able intermittently walk and jog for many hours at a time got really sick and now still feels bad a few days later.” Where’s the story here?
This has to be some of the stupidest fearmonger reporting around.
This yet again one of the most hilariously misleading headline stories. I mean you would think by now this moronic nation would start to see patterns emerging on this and start connecting factual dots - but alas no.
So you are telling me this jabroni ran a marathon 15 years ago? Because of course the headline implies this is some super fit dude, struck down cruelly by COVID-19 in the peak of his physical condition - thus proving the agenda of both mainstream and social media that we are all in essence completely f--ked and on the verge of impending death.
Of course we have absolutely no other context or data on this dude. After achieving his marathon goals did he give up on his health? Does he now smoke? does he vape? He is an asthmatic - we know this, the article says so. Does he work some j--k off high stress job in New York city which is a polluted, disgusted s--thole of a city to begin with? I mean this is perfect sensationalist journalism at it's finest.
But apparently in this idiot nation it works. Articles of this ilk are exactly what get the social media virology experts running around and proclaiming that "SEE! the young, fit and healthy get this too ya know!!!!" before squeezing out a massive fart and inhaling it.
Honestly, it's not that big of a deal that he needs to sit down while showering. I gave birth five months ago and hemorrhaged a pint of blood or so afterwards (not unusual). I also had some other minor complications. For the first couple weeks - weeks, not days - I could barely make it through a five minute shower. I'd be getting ready to pass out and just make it to my bed to lie down and recuperate for an hour or two.
Now, five months later, I feel great and am running up to six hilly miles. I'd be running a lot more if my baby let me sleep at night.
