Why go to Northfield and run in the rain and deal with Covid fearmongers and slow races when you can dominate the Piper meet?

Unveil thyself already, silly Tommy! If not for your alias or obvious insecurity, your misunderstanding of the word “dominate” surely gives away your allegiance (though your lack of understanding is understandable given your “78 iq” as mentioned previously in this thread).
Despite their annoying online presence from their JV runners who can barely break 5 minutes in the mile, how the St. Olaf distance crew isn't getting attention is beyond me. As of yesterday their 5K squad is 14:43 - 14:55 - 15:04 - 15:19 - 15:21 - 15:21 - 15:27 - 15:30 - 15:30. All are returning next year. & every single one except for Reuben Kosche is an underclassmen.
Some predictions. Jesse Middendorf will sweep the 400 & 800 at conference, Fernando Benitez will go under 14:20 but not win MIAC (no one's beating Wilkinson) & Zach Haire will break 30:00 but lose at MIAC to Mueller.

St. Thomas athlete here. Can someone please explain all of this talk about the trenches to me? Im genuinely confused here - what are you all talking about?!? And why do our women’s team members keep talking about the oles and their trench training?
"Oles and their trench training" is just a mind-game being played by their distance crew, who are doing the steeplechase. They think the defending champ aka Matt Wilkinson is scared to face them in a race.

That’s weird, it always seemed to be a reference to an act more promiscuous in nature than simply running.

This whole thread. You've got to be joking.
Too bad there was no MIAC XC championship. Looking at the 5k it would have been an interesting battle. Young Oles look good. Carleton with their top guys and St. Thomas has a a good group. Gustavus is also as strong as they have ever been in distance.
Predictions for this year's conference meet:
Middendorf takes the 800 easy, and the 1500 if he moves up in distance.
Wilky takes the steeple, and in the impossible event in which he doesn't run the steeple, Ben Santos wins.
Wilky takes the 5000 as well. No argument here. Fernando second with sub 14:30 but not sub 14:20 (though we have seen him drop large amounts of time before...)
Mueller takes the 10000, Haire second. I predict it to be a close race, but Mueller's experience gives him an undeniable advantage here.
Wild card: would love to see a Wilky vs Middendorf 1500 scenario. Who takes it - the 800 runner or the 3000 runner? Might have to give Middendorf the advantage given his injury - free winter, but Wilky has surprised us before.
Could see a few upsets - Haire's 30:19 10000 debut is quite fast (Mueller's own 10000 debut was a 30:46, though I don't know if he had a pacer or not). I'd add that if Haire were to get a fast 5000 in, him moving down in distance at conference could pose a threat to Benitez in the 5000, though I don't see this as likely given that he is practically guaranteed to score in the 10000.
This is a bit far out, but next year oles may be favorites for miac XC. Even with the carls aging out their best two, they're still an incredibly good team. The tommies will be gone too so they're not too important. And then there's the gusties, who still have a lot of talent returning next year. Most of whom really started showing how good they were just this season. Will be very interesting to see what happens over the summer.
oles have choked at conference the past few years. i guess we’ll see what happens.

What makes you think Middendorf will take the 400? No doubt that he is a phenomenal runner, but it seems as if there would be less guarantee of a win there.
Also Olaf has been pretty 5k heavy this year - just wait until other schools have a few meets with the goals of a fast 5k. Gustavus sure could tap into it’s deep upperclassmen crew. I’d add that the Tommies had a deep 5k crew at Hamline as well, it just seems that they are missing the up front punch that the oles have. Which, as we know, could easily be provided given a few more meets.
After reviewing the Hamline results, it seems that St. Johns has a solid steeple duo this year. Probably not enough to beat the Carls, but still enough to podium and impact scoring. Plus, given the eligibility left, it seems as if this is a crew that could make a presence at nationals in a few years.

I think you may be forgetting about the Johnnies...

Just say you go to St Olaf
8:56 solo for matty wilky. Clearly the knee is fine. Instant favorite for the national title
Would've been fun to see how he could have done against Basten at the City Classic.
Wow, Wilkinson 13:58 tonight. Impressive.
Mueller ran well too. Should put him just inside the top 15 for now. And for all the talk of the Oles, the Carls go 13:58, 14:30, 14:48, 15:02, 15:23, 15:34, and 15:42 with the last five all being underclassmen. The MIAC 5000m depth is legit.
