How likely this season going to happen?
How likely this season going to happen?
i'd say the regular season will most likely happen. as far as i know, all MIAC schools will be having in person, on campus classes to some degree.
the part that gets tricky is the post season. who knows at this point.

I think we'll have some form of XC. No chance of Indoor. Outdoor will depend on how bad the winter is and where the vaccines/testing is. So probably unlikely. We should all do Nordic. Even Throwers and Jumpers.
Word is that there are going to be a lot more dual/tri meets as opposed to larger meets (Running of the Cows, TC Twilight, etc.) during the regular season
Will be a bummer to have smaller meets, but the prospect of Carleton vs. St Olaf or Carleton vs St Olaf vs St Thomas style meets is interesting and would most likely be very competitive.

This mf using his actual name to shill his own team unlike the rest of you cowards.
Colleges are pretty desperate to get kids on campus this fall. I think they will be looking to take as many measures as possible to calm fears, and unfortunately I think Cross Country and other sports will be one of the first sacrifices for D3 schools.
Probably. I think Bowdoin's cancellation (and probably soon the other NESCAC schools) will only snowball. Especially as the pandemic worsens here in the USA.
Williams canceled fall athletics as of this morning. Will the rest of the NESCAC fall? What does this mean for the MIAC?
Would love a season. The biggest issue here is testing. For a college to maintain credibility, they have to test every athlete after a competition, and probably before as well. That’s a big drain on resources at a time when the economy is hurting. It seems like an economically poor decision to push those resources into athletics rather than prioritizing academics, especially at the d3 level. Even if the season gets cancelled, a MIAC letsrun thread season could be played out on the courses in northfield, without knowledge of any authorities. Race at your own risk (and the risk of those you come into daily contact with).
Rip to the season. GG
Carleton is out. Rest of the MIAC to follow soon? Absolute BUMMER for a stacked XC team.

Macalester will follow suit. I bet the rest of the conference will still compete as long as the NCAA doesn’t cancel
I feel like Olaf will have to follow Carleton. Looks bad if one Northfield school cancels sports but the other doesn't???? idk
MIAC switching to conference only schedule. Just a bunch of dual / tri meets?
dual meets galore? wrote:

The only way this is going to work is with duals and tris with limited athletes (top 9?) and strict social distancing for spectators .
Maybe 2-3 meets for each team, and then a MIAC championship at St Olaf with no spectators and only top 7 running for each team.
It's this or less. Entirely possible the MIAC cancels the season.
NO CHANCE MY SCHOOL WILL CANCEL. OLAF WILL REIGN SUPREME.
Remind me, how has "reigning supreme" gone for the Oles the last 3 years at conference??
Anyone know what Wilkinson/Mueller plans are for the rest of their eligibility or if they enrolled in third trimester classes this past spring/are planning on being enrolled this fall? Also interested in what other top underclassman are planning on doing.
It’s hard to imagine a that there will be a return to normal competition by outdoor at this point.
