Iowa had put schools and sports on hold but the athletic associations came out today with a schedule for spring sports. Sports will begin May 1 and the state track meet will be held June 4. It may be the only state to have scheduled a state meet.

Iowa does not know best. Gov Reynolds refuses to shut down the state.
Well, if the virus situation in states like Iowa doesn't take off like it did in NY, that would be great and I would hope other States will follow.
At least they are keeping option of having season open-not shutting it down too early. May still get shut down but might as well wait it out a little longer and see if restrictions loosen at all. And Iowa is totally shut down---not calling it shelter at place-but restrictions are more tight than a lot of states that have a shelter in place.
I live in Iowa. We have a recommendation to keep groups to 10 or less. I played golf with 7 buddies today. My son went running with a handfulf of teammates. I went to the hardware store and it was packed. I have never seen so many people out.
Tennessee might be the same way too. TSSAA is holding out hope that we can have championships, although they may be pushed back to June. As of now, we’re most likely out of school till May 1. They have not released a concrete schedule for how they plan to start/finish seasons, although we’re awaiting word in the next few weeks. But they have publicly stated that they are committed to salvaging spring sports in some way.
I hope the great people of Iowa play their cards right and get what they want. Prove that unnecessary panic forced unconstitutionally on everyone is the wrong answer.
Reevaluating in smaller timespans is the better way to go. The experts don't agree as they are blinded by political influence.
They can still shut it down but at least they've still provided a possible option if they seem it to be safe. I suspect it will not happen if they believe people will get sick.
This is probably not a good idea. Obviously Iowa hasn't been hit hard yet, but you start having sporting events and it will blow up.
It may be the only state at this time who has firmly rescheduled a state meet.
