The Facebook page "I Was Or Am A Runner" is notable for its 13k members, floods of nostalgic photos, and heated debates on current topics polarized between the old and the new generations. In the last few days things really kicked off when a respected Coach promoted a virtual road relays event to the distaste of the despotic admin team. This lead to him being unceremoniously banned form the group, leading to uproar from those keen to take part in the race and respect the amount of work he has done for the British domestic running scene. Since then the Admins have repeatedly attempted to defend themselves, but consistently undermined each other and themselves. This is the latest in a series of controversies in the community hosted by the group; debates see anyone who disagrees with the opinion of the admin team banned. Is this an insight into why sports administration at the grass level goes so consistently wrong, people unqualified for the role get power drunk and defend there egos by attacking/ exiling anyone who points out their faults?
