Laterunnerphil, I’m not complaining at all - I loved this race, those sub-13 performances, and him as an athlete in general. My point was more aimed towards Sad, Frustrated Coach.
No doubt Solinsky’s career is fantastic and inspiring, but I also can’t imagine that fans weren’t left wanting more. These races were such fantastic highs that I craved similar performances on the biggest stages, not just at Stanford and the diamond league (granted, the DL is the 3rd biggest stage this sport has).
It’s a paradox of a career - if he doesn’t train so hard (like the guy complaining about his HS mileage and pace), maybe he gets to multiple worlds and olympics with good finishes.
If he and more people like him (like sad frustrated coach wants) burn the candle at both ends in training, we get flash in the pan performances like this but no longevity.
Like I said, no complaints, but I can’t say I wasn’t hoping for more on the world stage after this race.
