The top doctors are saying that in the US it will be a bad week ("shocking to some") and "our Pearl Harbor". Right now compared to the flu the situation is like at 15% of a normal flu season. I'm not saying it won't get bad, really bad, but exactly what do the top doctors mean? What can we expect?

We need a solution peeps. We don’t have enough testing. Even if we did, it’s not enough to turn this economy on. Cuomo is wrong.

Besides being awful, I'm not sure how else Covid-19 qualifies.
It'll be a Pearl Harbor everyday of next week.
2300 people died in the Pearl Harbor attack. We'll average more than that a day next week.
This will be more like , "next week will be like Vietnam " , where America actions will cause the loss of there own.

Besides no track being cancelled I am really happy that all the professional sports are cancelled. This is coming from a season ticket holder.

How is 9,000 dead just a fraction of the typical flu season? H1N1 caused 12,419 dead in 2009-10.
Moreover, the death toll for coronavirus has been markedly underreported. Many excess 'pneumonia' deaths were likely due to Coronavirus. Many states have been making no effort to test the dead for the virus. Scarcity in testing kits is causing many to go untested. 911 operators and ambulance crews are telling people to stay home instead of taking them to the hospital.

A country that can put an iPhone in every persons hand, a country that can produce enough hamburgers and french fries to feed the world population 7 times over, a country that has shown an incredible capacity for mobilization of resources for war, this country doesn’t have enough tests? I heard about dozens of nba players being tested, some of whom had no symptoms, Celebrities politicians, there are plenty of tests for these people.

Two years ago we had well over 60,000 dead from flu ad no one batted an eye.
60k from the flu two years was on Trump's watch. I assume it snuck up on people and that's on his administration that they didn't do more. But this one had a projection of 2.2 million if allowed to infect a large proportion of the population, which is why shutdowns should have taken place far sooner. As George W. Bush said, and he was one who should have known at the time, having already blown two national emergencies, it's like a forest fire, if you stop it early it's just embers; if you stop it late it is extremely destructive. We're at 9,000+ in the past three weeks. When has flu killed 3,000 per week?

More Americans died during the 6 months of the 2017/2018 flu season, than American soldiers, in all 20 years of The Vietnam War combined.
