So I am a sophomore in high school who just found out that spring track is getting cancelled. I ran about 20 miles per week while doing basketball during the winter to prepare for track. So the season got cancelled until may 1st, which is 2 weeks before districts. So I decided to just up my mileage to 40 mpw for 2 weeks. The next week I find out that track is cancelled for good. As of now, I'm taking a few days off of running. What would be the move from here on? Note that I do xc and want to start training for that, but I dont know when I should start. I'm thinking about just doing about 25 miles per week at a slow pace until mid-may, and then go up to 30, and once june comes I'll hit 35, and then peak at about 45 miles during the end of July. I'm planning on doing slow miles until about mid june, and add a weekly speed session. Likely starting with fartleks, then going into intervals as weeks progress. How does that plan sound?
