They are usually one of the better teams, but if you go there, you'll have to serve in the navy, which could likely hamper your chances of post collegiate running. On the cusp of all region and think you could run a good marathon after college? Better hope you don't get stationed on a tiny ship or sent to a little island or the arctic or an airfield in the desert, etc.
All three service academies are very good men's teams on a consistent basis.
Navy has had a team at Nationals more recently than Army, but I think West Point right now is the top of the
three services.

You'll only be deployed on a max of 6 months on a ship. They will have a treadmill. So if there's a will, there's a way.

Clown talk
Air Force is consistently the best running program within the service academies.
All 3 produce really good team and athletes despite the rigorous academics, military training and lifestyle.
No.
who gives a flying f*ck what letsrun thinks?
I'm a West Point grad who competed on their marathon team and had a number of friends on the track and cross country teams. The service academies are a little odd in that essentially all of the incoming Cadets and Midshipman are varsity athletes and team captains in HS. Something like 90% of incoming students each year. So there is a very large pool of good but not great runners. The service academies also have some very highly ranked club sports teams particularly their triathlon teams which have won national championships in recent years. It is a little hard to compare Air Force to Army and Navy because while Army and Navy compete directly I think they would only run against Air Force at an NCAA meet. Given the altitude in Colorado Springs and the fact that you have seen Air Force athletes both men and women in NCAA level meets, I would think Air Force probably has the stronger team. As noted by others you do not need to worry about being able to run while serving because no matter where you are deployed globally some provision for keeping fit will have been made.
Now that Cantello is gone, yes. Demented, abusive man
