Not exactly. I'm white suburban privileged and I CAN'T do the race, because I have to work. It's simply a mix of people who have significant free time for multiple reasons: lost a job, professional runner, furloughed, teacher, etc.

It needs to be something more like 10K per hour, or 12K per hour. The fact that this will go on for days is insane, and irresponsible given that some grocery stores are having trouble keeping some items in stock.
This is so American it's ridiculous.

I believe it’s Canadian, actually (organizers). The runners are from various places.
How is Dave Proctor doing. Has he given up yet?
I’m banditing. Who’s with me?!!

Race organizers told me there would be some sort of stream to follow
I am actually going to be following a creek. I was going to follow the river that particular creek feeds into but the trail is much hillier.

Not usually a fan of this sort of nefarious activity, but desperate times call for.......
Is this actually happening?
Main Stream Media in the house! Sports Illustrated & Runner’s World have articles. Proctor is bib #1.
Searching for results. The $hit doesn’t get deep for a day or so.
OK, pump it up, people! Googled “Quarantine Backyard Ultra” & Runner’s World leads the way, believe it or not.
It’s supposedly being live-streamed on Facebook, as well as four channels on YouTube. Here in Arkansas, we talk slow & we stream even slower, so places that still have Internet during the current Permanent Emergency may have to inform us text-only commentators.
Fight the Power, baby!
How can I follow this?
Maybe I’ll do one hour of bandits game even though it’s already started right?
exactly
Youtube link?
zoom link?
leaderboard with live results?
anything?
is error 404, page not found
https://personalpeak.ca/live/has some youtube videos, but hard to say what they mean,
mostly static videos of people's backyards
I’m showing 3 live channels on YouTube listed as:
Quarantine Backyard Ultra
Seriously, the virus has slowed our already slow service in Arkansas. I can’t stream anything. I can’t even play 12” disco songs from the 70s anymore. Plus we’re out of cocaine. If there’s anyone still alive who’s reading this, try & make contact.
Here's a link:
Most of the good stuff happens from :45 to the hour. Then it goes quiet. Also Courtney reads a joke from a jokebook she has each hour. And Jamil changes his green screen.
Laz is on the steam as well offering up some commentary. I think we should get the brojos in the stream to commentate
You just see a bunch of empty garages.
What kind of race coverage is that?
Actually quite entertaining. Am enjoying it.....
This may be my last transmission...
Only kidding, I’ll take everyone’s word that people are running. I expect Proctor to put up a helluva fight, as the Host with the Most. His experience on a treadmill seems massive & very specific to what he’s doing here. This is solitary confinement, and there ain’t no easy time in the hole, even with Mr. Mozart to keep you company (Shawshank).
But my prediction is one of the multi-day or Backyard specialists, because I see this thing stretching into record Backyard territory close to 3 days. I certainly don’t discount Dauwalter vs. the menfolk, she’s been here before.
