trying my best to stay motivated and take advantage of this unforeseen training block. kinda hard when I hear that ncaa football is "unlikely" this fall... Are we even going to have a d1 xc season this fall?!??! tell me your theories.

train like it is, if there isn't, you'll just be in that much better shape for indoor next year. And tbf, I think we probably will have a cross season, look at Italy right now who had totally uncontrolled spread for months and now after a few weeks of lockdown the number of new cases is dropping pretty fast. Same thing happened in Wuhan.

We need to see what happens after the lockdown ends. It's only just begun to lift in Hubei and who knows how many cases they really have in China anyway. Italy seems trustworthy so it'll be interesting to see once the lockdown is lifted if it starts to spread out of control again.

From everything I've seen, yes there will be a season. That said, team training, camps, etc will more than likely be delayed, and there are a lot of guys (and gals) out there right now not training and will probably not get serious about it until "official" team training begins. Those putting in the time and miles consistently in the coming months have a chance to dominate in the fall. Keep training.
We may never have sports or in person school again. Accept that possibility now and it will be easier to just enjoy running for what it is, not just competition.

Not even a small chance of this being true. Our preparation for this kind of thing will change but we will have in person school and sports
+1 for this. Also consider the expense and logistics associated with college football compared to cross country. They need to plan things waaaay far in advance and incur a lot of costs if it doesn't happen. Cross country team needs are comparatively minimal.

Probably. I can't imagine things being shut down for 4 more months. By then, the argument will have swung to open back up whether its the right or wrong thing to do. I'm thinking we can social distance for april and maybe through may in places with a high number of cases.
Like someone else said, assume there will be a season. If you assume otherwise, don't train, and there is one you'll be in bad form. Personally, I cannot imagine the world can maintain its current state for all that much longer and even if there's no medicine to treat it at some point we'll need to accept that it will be around and killing people as is the case with things like TB, malaria, even flu because people cannot afford not to have an income and governments either cannot or will not continue paying compensation indefinitely especially when income tax revenues are way down.
