All masks, ventilators, and toilet paper comes from the private economy. The government produces zero of any of the things. The government sits on the private, profit-seeking individuals who do produce these things, taxing huge amounts of their income and threatening them with fines and imprisonment if they charge either too much or too, earn an "excessive" (by some arbitrary standard) profit or fail to maximize shareholder value, or even just become controversial enough to give politicians an incentive to brag about throwing you in jail. The reason the USA is now weak enough to have shortages of crucial supplies is because mindless, emotionalist, leftist know-nothings driven by envy and theft have brought about an economy that, even in times of control under people who are "Republicans" in name only, is primarily based on central planning. If we ever want to live in a semi-rational economy ever again, we need to rediscover PRO-CAPITALIST and FREE MARKET ideas based on the values of individual rights and enlightened self-interest.
