Dump trump?
Dump trump?
You do realize that Sweden at least started this pandemic with a functioning government & healthcare for all?

Not sure what you mean by that? I'm not a fan of him, but you do realize that he has a staff the advises him on a daily basis and I really doubt he was be prodded to do anything sooner than he actually did.

So you are saying what Sweden did by NOT shutting their country down was a good or bad thing?
If we had their health care system would that have prevented what is occurring in NY?
They prodded him to sue several states to prevent healthcare.

Who are they? Where have you gathered this information?
Good question! It’s currently difficult to track all of trump’s advisers; possibly that is the point.
Many positions have changed hands a few times in just 3 years; others have a bewildering array of “acting” positions; there are the informal hirings who aren’t gov’t employees like Giuliani; staffers who are fulfilling roles that aren’t within their purview; people hired apparently only for their loyalty, looks, or nepotism; people like Vladimir Putin who are sanctioned and shouldn’t be advising USA on anything. Ring a bell?

So you don't know who "they" actually are, but somehow know "they" prodded him to sue several states to prevent healthcare?!?!? Again , where are you gathering this information?
New fresh info coming in from my country Sweden. Out of now 180 people died because of Corona, 75 women and 105 men, 75 of them was age 80-90 ,42 of them was age 70-79, 41 of them was age 90 + . This means totally 88 % of the died was 70 years old or more.....
Now the goverment has made a ban on visits to old-age homes and will increase the testing of staff. So far our goverment and medical experts have the situation under control without total lockdown.
Good question! Generally, I start with the Guardian. LetsRun (buyer beware, of course!) is crowdsourced commentary, so there are some gems both in the original and in the links they provide. “Ciro” has certainly scooped the group here many times, chapeau brother!
Democracy Now is small & poor, but brief & skeptical. MSN has a lot of breaking news & broad-based stuff. CNN is solid but too many ads, plus they’re American & have to be patriotic sometimes at the expense of leaning on the “sacred cows”, no offense to Hindus I hope.
Google is still great, but again buyer beware, they will alter the results to cater to your existing biases.
Yesterday it was 110 deaths, so up 64% in one day!
Guardian noted yesterday that scientists including the Nobel committee, were worried & petitioned for lockdown, noting the sudden increase. Inevitable, I’m sorry to say.

Thanks for the update. I saw the large uptick which was worrisome but now less so with the context that you’ve provided on age distribution.
If the ban is coming just now, it's a month too late. The number of deaths in Sweden is already pointing to results worse than Denmark and Norway. Starting to look like Sweden should have taken a different path.

We saw the same deal in Seattle a month ago. The covid broom swept through some nursing homes but has largely moved on. We are on "shelter in place" but it is questionable how necessary or effective it is. It did cost me my job at a small gym which had to shut down.
The comparisons with Seattle are relevant & defy your conclusion. Seattle has had extensive coverage of the shortages of equipment now, after the virus initially focussed on the elderly. Same now happening in Sweden. Bad news.

State of Washington and Sweden are roughly the same population wise (8 million to 10 million)
You bring up an interesting observation around the nursing home sweep through. Since then it looks like fatality rate has stabilized.
Sorry about your job situation. Hope you find something else and in good order.
Just came to think about to "put the matter in their perspective". How many people dies in USA ,Italy and Sweden on "a normal day" ?
USA : 7334 ( In Corona today 439 )
Italy : 1657 ( In Corona today 837)
Sweden : 260 ( In Corona today 34 )
That’s right, don’t be Italy obviously.
But it’s not clear we’re doing anything to avoid being Italy. Others would disagree, but corruption has certainly held Italy back, and it’s a growing problem in USA.

Even when the US reaches 50% of the background mortality there will still be these "It's just the flu, bro" idiots
