ya thanks again China lied people died
This whole part of the story is a complete mystery...
There are articles published saying the coronavirus is very stable and isn't mutating, so a vaccine is a good bet. And other saying there are up to 40 mutations.
There are articles about false positives out the wazoo.
And articles about people getting re-infected after testing negative.
None of it really makes any sense. There is a total lack of peer-reviewed papers on Covid-19.
Dude, its been a massive cauldron of confusion from day 1.
So many competing theories, conflicting theories, counter theories and of course a deluge of conspiracy theories

It's cause it emerged in China.
Nobody really takes China's economic numbers as 100% accurate, but we are all supposed to believe their health numbers are 100% accurate?
Plus the WHO at least appears to be in bed with China or grossly incompetent.
The WHO has barked at everyone in the world to "do more" to prepare, but not really specified what they should do. How many ventilators per X people do we need? What social distancing measures should be in place? Etc. NO CONCRETE DIRECTION. They believed China too readily and now the whole world has to pay the price. And now if you blame China you are called racist! China is winning at controlling the message. Everyone is so clueless.

It mutates all the time. It's how they can track who's infecting whom ... when Alice Bob Charlie Dick and Edith all have one genome of it, and Frank Gareth Horace Icabod and Jaco Pistorius all have another, they can tell who's been with whom.
But there are mutations and then there are mutations. 'Mutated' doesn't mean 'oh no it's completely different now and probably worse we're doomed!' Most mutations are pretty meaningless.
Source: that nextstrain.org link some guy posted on some thread. Pretty cool site.
Could be that they haven't fully recovered yet...

Guess life will never go back to normal again. Can't say that I miss the way it was all that much...
The key is knowing if these ppl were placed in quarantine and isolated post-recovery (and who the hell knows what that means- tested once/twice/thrice negative after dissipation of symptoms). If they were, the positive test is very, very alarming. If this needs to be spelled out to ppl then I have ZERO hope in mankind (yea, that includes womankind too).

If one is testing positive but A-symptomatic that is ok. Testing positive x 2 is not proof of mutation.
that may be ok wrote:

WTH are you talking about? This virus has mutated numerous times already. In fact, it's mutating now. It has a mutation rate on the order of what has been seen with Ebola and that's a very, very high rate. What exactly are you saying here? Mutations are not necessarily bad. There are good mutations and bad mutations, and meaningless mutations that are neither good nor bad from a human health standpoint. If one is asymptomatic and testing positive over the long term that is bad, very bad. That would indicate that a certain segment of the population is an asymptomatic carrier of whichever virus strains/types harbored in their cells. Now, the question becomes what exactly does that mean? Are they asymptomatic carriers who are a danger to the public (i.e., are able to transmit viable virus) or just a danger to themselves (i.e., have chronic levels of virus in their system much like HPV which can cause a whole variety of problems for them over the long term including heightened risk of cancers and organ/tissue damage). Another possibility is an asymotomatic carrier who poses neither a problem to themselves or the public. But, frankly, this possibility seems quite remote from my point of view considering the virulence and high tissue infectivity of this monster virus.

Yeah, you nailed it. There's the justification for autocracy!

Maybe once you get covid and recover—you become a convalescent carrier forever? Or maybe a subset of people who recover completely clear the virus and a subset become permanent carriers of covid even if asymptotic?
Or maybe there first positive test was a false positive. Have seen some references to ~19% of tests being false positives. That's a lot of fake "asymptomatic carriers."
Can't really know, can we, when the specifications (i.e., sensitivity/specificity profile) and validation results for the kits in use here in the US are nowhere to be found in the literature. But, yea, you're right. I'm sure false positives happen probably through contamination of samples.
Oh, is that why Trump dilly dallied? Because he was waiting for direction from The WHO? Could you make a more hypocritical argument?
