Renato Canova has started a thread talking about the merits of the IOC possibly holding the 2020 Summer Olympics in the spring of 2021 as was mentioned as a possibility by the IOC yesterday. Let's leave the debating of the merits or demerits of that in that thread.
The question I have is simple. Let's assumed the Olympics are held next spring, when and where should the US trials be held?
I think the Trials would have to go to Mt. Sac and should be held in 2021 as close to the Games as possible. So if the Games start on May 1st and entries are due by say Apri 1. You hold the trials at Mt Sac in lateMarch. The weather in Eugene isn't good enough in March to host them. Also some may argue we should hold the Trials at the end of 2020, but the weather also isn't good enough then in Eugene to host them either.
Thoughts?
Here is the other thread about the spring Olympics.
