Personally I don't think that one can be a real opportunity.
1- In individual sport, who didn't have the qualification standard can't have time for trying to achieve it. I don't think that the current season can give opportunities for top competitions, with athletes well trained. If we are lucky, maybe the normal activity can start again from September, and can last one month only (I meantrack activity).
In the case of Olympics at the end of next Spring (inside the end of June) the athletes need to achieve the limits inside half of May, and for that reason the preparation must be accelerated, with very short time at disposal.
2- In Teams sport, Spring is a period of full Championships everywhere. Already we don't know when the next Championships can really start, but it seems clear they need to be delayed compared with the normal calendars, because if some Country wants to finish the current championships (soccer, volleyball, basket, hockey, etc...), has to prolongue the current season after a break of 2-4 months. In this scenario, I don't see how can be possible to ask to cut the time at disposal for the National Championships in order to particpate to Olympics.
At the end of everything, I think more logic to organize Olympics not before end of September - beginning of October, like happened in other circumstances (Tokyo 1964, Seoul 1988, Sydney 2000) without big problems for any discipline, leaving space at the end of Spring / beginning of Summer for activities of Area and turnaments of qualification for the Games.
About the individual sport that have in their schedules the WCh, I think NOT possible for any athlete to be in shape for both WCh and Olympics. So, following the Latin "Ubi major minor cessat" (where there is something big, the interest for something small doesn't survive), I think the final decision can only be to postpone of one year the Athletic WCh and the WCh of swimming, in spite of a lot of discussion connected with the dimension of the business.
