Some can train right now. Some can't. The northern hemisphere athletes will miss a track season, and get straight back into winter training. This will advantage someone. But who?

That's a dumb reason
2021, T&F has a scheduled World Championship. 2021, Aquatics has a scheduled World Championship. I do not know how rescheduling is going to work. We still have not rescheduled 1916, 1940 or 1944 Olympics. 2020 Olympics has to get in line.
don't be sorry
i would think a level playing field is not possible at present
some can train some cannot
in northern hemisphere as the heat defeats the virus, southern hemisphere will be locked down

Indeed.
And when governments realize that the virus doesn't pose much of a threat at all in hot African countries, they will suffer very little from lock downs or interruption to training, or even racing. They will miss the summer racing in Europe/America, but they can stay home, train, and pretty much dope full throttle.

Uh....you do know that track & field isn't the only sport contested in the Olympics.
Who cares about Olympic Games; the World Championships is the real deal competition of the best athletes.
What about the Winter Olympics in 2022?

What about them?
You kids are probably too young to remember, but not too long ago the Summer and Winter Olympics were always held the same year. It was only relatively recently that they split the winter out on its own.
That said, I don't think the summer games should be pushed to 2022. 2021 is fine for me.

yeah it wasn't until 1994 when winter was standalone from summer--they make it seem like a huge undertaking for sponsors etc to have both in the same year, but they used to be only 6 months apart!

Yes and that’s why they had the Winter Olympics in 1994 after only having it two years prior in 1992.
I like how the Olympics are always on an even year. 2022 sounds good to me. Our world will need as much time as it can get to heal from the trump presidency. By 2022 will be well on are way.

Trump is easily going to win a second term. I say that as someone who utterly hates the man and am voting against his idiocy basically no matter what.

It takes (103 to 105) degrees to kill a virus. That is what your body is doing while running a fever. It's not hot in Africa now, low 90s. In Lagos Nigeria it is 81 F as I type with a high of the day of 92. Not hot enough to kill a virus. Some MDs off the record have found a correlation with NSAIDS like Advil &/or Moltrin and getting corona-19 virus. MD's have found a correlation with ACE inhibitors for high blood pressure and getting corona-19 virus. It is a bourgeois luxury for 40 plus year old citizens, 30 pounds over weight to take ACE inhibitors. You cannot get a MD on record with this yet. It makes more sense than Africa heat when it is not that hot in Africa.

Really? Then let's hold the two events in the same year and at the same time and see where athletes choose to go. When it comes to the marathon the World Championships do not come close to the Olympic field. Every other event pretty much has the same fields.
One advantage of Worlds is it allows a 4th entrant in some cases.

Easily? He barely won in 2016 even running against the most deplorable candidate the Dems could have come up with.

Haha yes thanks for the reminder. It's a good time to do a bit of a cull.. starting with beach volleyball
The World Cup is in 2022. However, for the 2022 edition it will take place at a different time of the year. Usually it is in the summer but due to it being hosted by Qatar it will begin on 21 November and conclude on 18 December.
