what corona has shown us is that people will ignore science as long as possible if the science inconveniences them
The corona outbreak in the US is just an accelerated version of Global Warming.....people deny deny deny until it's too late. When the stats show them that they were tragically wrong.. they shrug their shoulders and say..."well, it's too late now....might as well just carry on"
It's proven that it's usually better to side with science rather than political convenience.
Ya, a few months of data will sure invalidate years of science. If the models are wrong, scientists will be the first to admit to you that they messed up, not fox news! There isn't some liberal-scientist-government conspiracy to make you buy a tesla and turn your lights off when you're not home. Right now the thing you should be worried about is sheltering in place, how you can minimize the spread of covid 19 when you go out for food or to run and walk. Your state of Maryland is expected to have more people needing hospitalization for covid 19 than beds available between April 24-28 based on the models I've seen. That is what I'd be worried about right now.
So Fisky says that if nothing changes, climate change is a hoax.
If CO2 levels drop then it is still probably a hoax.
Waiting for future-us to solve the problem is just a moronic idea. If we don't force the change we don't need to develop new technologies.

Rojo are you listening? Like REALLY listening?

Rojo, this is a running message board, not a platform for you to push your radical right wing ideology. That’s what I think. I also think you’ll just delete my post instead of honestly reflecting on what I said. I served my country bravely and this country is in the middle of pandemic, and you want to play TMZ.
GROW UP
Play TMZ? Push my radical right wing ideology? What are you talking about? THe post that I quoted is from someone who believes in AGW and explains how the Coronavirus might prove part of it is in fact real to even skeptics, yet you go ballistic because the same poster also admits it's possible the current panpandemic could also provide evidence for the other side.
I'm trying to see if there can be any benefit to the terrible tragedy. And yet you get mad as you don't want to even contemplate that it's possible it could show something else?
I think one thing it shows is that the massive air pollution caused by the capitalist mode of production is one of THE if not THE major contributors to disease all across the globe.
But I guess it's just a coincidence that radical increases in particulate matter in Hubei Province, N Italy, Madrid, Tehran coincide with significant upticks in viruses (not just this one) and other diseases.
Not too difficult to understand that destroying people's upper respiratory functions and immune systems leave them vulnerable to disease. And not too difficult to understand that all of this is tied to a specific economic system that is destroying the air, water, soil etc.
I think it is a fairly stupid argument. How much has manmade CO2 emissions been reduced?
lol, Rojo. Thousands are dying, Russian trolls are taking over the message boards, and you want to start a thread about the POSITIVES of COVID-19 , and you don't get why that's a problem?
You're a joke.
How about this, is this a postive:

+1, rojo makes this message board worse rather than better. I’d argue mostly the opposite for wejo.

Wejo has some sense at least.
LOL, Rojo banned me from posting here. He gets offended so easily
People here sure get triggered easily. No need to get all steamed up yet. Can't we just wait and see what this fortuitous 'experiment' yields? We have already seen satellite views that show less pollution, due to industry decline during this pandemic. Whether that pollution reduction shows up at Hawaii in any significant way is to be seen. No big deal.
The virus isn’t directly & instantly related, but look at how we live.
We’re crowded together in huge numbers & hindering most other life forms & the planet itself.
Then look at the massive resistance to dealing with the pandemic. It’s some kind of problem that we have to work together?

What is this "running" you talk about?
CO2 emission isn't going down significantly. Particularly with China going back to work.
Just another scientific question that right wingers will twist to fit their beliefs.

That's not what he said at all. Read it more carefully.
Global CO2 levels represent the interaction between human emissions, natural emissions and the ability of the natural environment to capture those emissions. It is far too complicated a system to ever be able to divine out the effect of a short term decline in human CO2 emissions. CO2 emissions could very well continue to rise due to the degradation of the rain forest under Bolsinaro and the declining ability of the oceans to capture and store CO2 emissions. It is an extremely flawed premise and an experiment that is not worth anyone's effort.
one thing that I've noticed is that there is a huge crossover between people who think GW is a hoax and people who think COVID-19 is a hoax.
bear that in mind as the results play out over the next few weeks.
