Here’s my situation: I’m a high school senior who’s run cross country and distance track all 4 years. Here are my PRs all from JUNIOR year.
4:40 1600
2:02 800
16:41 5k
I had big plans for senior year but unfortunately I got a back injury about halfway through cross county this year. I know I would’ve broken 16:20 and made it to states alongside my other teammate. I recovered and trained during the winter season and started off the spring hoping to break 4:28 in the 1600 and make it to districts. Now unfortunately due to this virus, the spring season is probably cancelled.
I’m committed to a college (D1) and I’m unsure whether I want to try out for the team. I have faith that with good training over the summer I could make the team in the fall. The qualifications are lower compared to other D1 schools, but there are still many good and fast runners. I’ve done research and although I won’t be the slowest runners, I’m afraid it will be really hard for me since I’m not used to it. I know I want to continue running but I’m not sure I’m fit to be on a D1 team. Any thoughts or advice??
