During my run today someone approached me in a vehicle to asks directions. The first time was understandable, just looking for a street and didn’t have gps. But then he came back with the excuse that he kept on getting lost 3 MORE times. Somewhat believable if your not familiar with the neighborhood and don’t have gps. Quite a few dead end streets without signs. What was extremely creepy was that he took a picture of me on the last approach, right in front of me! I am sure as he pointed the phone right at me while I was facing him. At the 2nd approach I was prepared to take any steps necessary to not be a victim of a crime, he wasn’t creepy but definitely unusual activity.
So runners, what do you when someone randomly approaches you in a car and what safety measures do you take to protect yourself? I carry my gun on every run and pepper spray. But today it felt like that may one day not be enough if I’m not fully aware during my run (listening to something on headphones). Stay safe!
