They won't win medals whether it's this year, next year, or 2024, so it doesn't matter if they like and support it.
So only Justin will go to the Olympics and Team Canada will stay home?
He sounds like he is spoiled!
they're right, why decide now and why decide for them?

Easy answer. Because Canada pays to send them.
He’s actually a really good guy, just upset like the rest of us. Met him at the NCAA outdoor championships in 2018 and he’s honestly one of the most genuinely good guys in running.
Canada is the Harvard of the Olympics.
pfff the prestige of showing off athletes of that level is why they go there. the goofy suits making decisions aren't the ones that do the athletes' work, and it's taxpayer money they're deciding about
I understand their frustration as this sport is their life, but these posts certainly convey a lack of life experience and a spoiled attitude. This pandemic is beyond them. It is beyond track. We will need 6, perhaps even 7, figures come July to count all the dead and their only concern is waiting a few more weeks to cancel the games? This virus isn't going away. Everyone in the West is hurting right now. I lost my job of 5yrs last week and my university semester was cancelled. Sport is not the priority right now.
I am Canadian and I have watched Sage Watson compete since her HS days. I definitely cheer on her success, but she is a women sheltered by the track system. She doesn't seem to have any life experiences that don't involve around track and field and it shows whenever she tries to comment on events. Not sure about Knight's life but he comes across as equally spoiled here.

How did you jump to this conclusion? "I don't like X" does not mean "X is my only concern."
She writes like a spoiled kid who doesn’t understand how the teams are funded. She doesn’t comprehend current events very well either.
“We need to make this decision as a WORLD not separate countries. Put our world first.?”
Has nothing to do with life experience. It has to do with being a pro athlete that is excited to go be an Olympian, one of the highest achievements in sports. Based on how many times you used the word “spoiled” you are very envious of their running talent.
Yes! Ignore sick Canadians & those who have died so that Sage can have her day in the sun!

He’s failing to understand that his decision isn’t his own decision. If there is still outlying cases and he decides to go on his “own”, he risks getting infected and bringing it back and spreading it again. Canada made a choice for their country and a statement for the world.
I get it’s difficult for athletes, but this is for the greater good. Waiting for the world to decide delays it more than making a decision and pushing the conversation forward.
It's not like he made the hockey team....lol. not that deep in running up north.

Former college teammate here...her online persona is a stunningly accurate portrayal of her being one of those people who has been treated like royalty too often and is subsequently living in a fantasy world mindset. Comes from a family of a LOT of money too. Entitlement is a powerful drug
Why are some of you calling these athletes "spoiled", being spoiled has nothing to do with this. It's not like they don't care about athlete safety, their just saying the federation should have waited a little until IOC made a decision. Completely understandable.
Watson said countries should be in this together. If 20 countries including the US pulled out of the olympics in one day and athletes from all these countries tweeted, no one would be calling them spoiled. Because then it's obvious the Olympics are going to need to be postponed. Someone had to stand up to rush the IOC decision. Canada and Australia did and I'm glad they did.
If IOC would have waited another 3-4 weeks to announce postponement, you would have seen more countries pull out besides these two. Even if the Olympics start late July (terrible idea), a lot of countries would have pulled out, including the US.
