I was surprised by how terrible his diet is. Not only does it seem like he’s not eating enough but the food that he is eating is garbage.
I've said it time and time again - running is 80% talent, 15% training system, and then the rest are all the 1%'ers. Hunter could eat ice-cream all day long and still run sub 14 5k, whereas most LRC posters will never even run sub 15 no matter how good they train, how well they eat, how much they sleep, etc.
I have to say tho that Hunter/TME seem to be an exception. I've been on many popular training camp destinations in Europe, and often stayed in hotels with many Olympians. Most eat extremely healthy, where it almost seems like an obsession. Portion size depends a lot on the athletes, some marathoners eat as much as I do (5-6k), others, especially female Olympians, often eat a good amount less (we only see the 3 main meals - breakfast, lunch, dinner but I doubt the snacks will make up much since it's full board usually and gets taken advantage of).
