Not a great article.
Selfish coaches who for some reason think one track season is bigger than a global pandemic.
It sucks, for sure. No fun for anyone at all.
This just proves how blinded Brosnan is, living his life through Young's achievements.

I didn't read selfishness at all. All the coaches want the best for the kids. No one said track was bigger than the " global" pandemic. Geez. All sports and kids in all activities are disappointed. You try to do what you can under the circumstances. No one in this article was selfish.

I agree with this.

I agree with you 100%. It's an especially bad look to anyone that is not a super diehard fan of the sport. I am a diehard fan and it still looks bad.
Trust me though, I've coached some national class kids and I can't say I wouldn't be feeling the same way as him right now trying to think of some way to pull off an official race even if it's solo.
I truly don't blame him at all, but it's not a flattering piece.
+10
Agree we should not read into him being selfish. This is a difficult time for everyone and as a coach he works hard to help his athletes achieve dreams. Is Lebron or Giannis bummed about the chance of the NBA being cancelled and loss of a year? Yes! It is not as if he is doing something purposefully that would endanger people like holding mass gatherings or something.

I agree. One can see the precautions are necessary but also that they impact individuals. I miss sports; I miss going into my office. I also realize this is the best course of action.
