No underlying health conditions as it seems. This is crazy.
Keep in mind, NJ is ranked #1 in terms of medical care in the country (best hospitals, etc).
It's going to get a lot worse.

“The latest update included four new deaths — a Monmouth County woman in her 70s, an Ocean County man in his 70s, an Essex County man in his 60s, and a Bergen County man in his 30s.
There were two deaths on Wednesday and four on Thursday. Of those, three had underlying health conditions and the circumstances of the other three were under investigation, health officials said.”
No where in this article does it say the man in his 30s had no underlying health conditions.

A 30 y.o. man dies in N.J.
OP has no solid details regarding the circumstances of the case beyond age and sex.
OP provides an uncited, random claim that N.J. has the best health care in the US.
OP concludes: "it's going to get a lot worse"
Nice job, OP.

There's one of these in my office. He's 60 something, and all of the above. Sounds like death on the best of days, but still here. Still here.

I've never heard that said about New Jersey. I was born elsewhere in the continental USA, live in a neighboring state and have seen plenty of beautiful places in New Jersey. I suspect that with your charm, wherever you live is therefore necessarily the butt of America.

Well, that is a pretty larger percentage of the US population, especially obesity.
Where does it state that the 30ish dude had no pre-existing condition?
STFU with fake news.

For you, asdfasdf!!
Welcome to the Armpit of America, a blog about New Jersey, the state we love to hate!
Why Armpit of America?
New Jersey can be considered the Armpit of America for several reasons. Obviously, the state is famous for the horrible odors that emanate from within its borders. All the factories, oil refineries, skunks, and skanks combine to make a unique brand of BO. Also, New Jersey generally has a bad reputation for its pollution, corrupt politicians, mobsters, and, again, the skanks. For these reasons, just as the armpit is one of the least desirable parts of the body, New Jersey is one of the least desirable states. Want even more proof of New Jersey’s status as the Armpit of America? Just look at a map of the United States and you’ll see how New Jersey is geographically the armpit of the nation.
Despite all the bad things, at least people know about New Jersey. Whether good or bad, everyone seems to have an opinion about it. Other states, not so much. I personally don’t know anything about Indiana or Nebraska, other than that they have a lot of farms. Everyone in the country has heard about the horrendous traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike. But, does anyone know about traffic patterns in Arizona or Vermont? I’m not sure if they even have cars in Montana. Again, no matter what people think about New Jersey, at least they have an opinion. Thus, New Jersey is a state that matters, unlike such places as Oregon, Alabama, or Wisconsin.
https://armpitnj.com/about/I like how most rational humans are realizing how the media has overblown this, and it’s really only the elderly and those with health conditions that should be worried. Now I have seen more stories in the media trying to get you believe the young are vulnerable too. Even if they do have pre existing conditions, they aren’t going to Put that into headlines. It goes against their propaganda. #truth

Cute post.
I have friends in NYC who have it, 6 of them, all men ranging from 30-38. All very fit, only one smoker.
Two of them have barely noticeable symptoms, no fever. (36 and 38) They wouldn't qualify as asymptomatic but extremely mildly symptomatic (one said if it weren't for knowing it was COVID 19, he would have chalked it up to being a minor cold and would have still gone to work and to the gym.)
Two of them were out of commission for a week or so, bad dry cough, chest pains, high fever. But getting better and will likely be fine. (30, the smoker, and 36.)
Two others are being hospitalized. One is a marathon runner, the other is very fit. They have both been on ventilators saying this is by far the worst illness they've ever experienced, they have barely any strength to move (one of them stated it was 5 steps to the toilet and he could barely make it) and are likely to suffer from some lung damage for a bit of time. (38 and 34.)
NONE of these men are obese or even overweight. All are very fit, only one is a smoker. I'm not sure about diabetes but I know 3 of them are not.
Perhaps the media has overblown this.
However in my own personal circle, it has proven to be random even amongst a healthy group of men. I wasn't scared of it before (I'm mid 30s, in great shape) but now, after seeing it first hand amongst people I know, I damn well do not want to get it in case I am not one of those asymptomatic cases.
Any pictures or history on the 30 year old guy? Some one who never goes to the doctor would have health issues and someone like Ragen Chastain would insist she's healthy. It seems the unhealthiest people always think they're healthiest.

He looks chunky! I'm telling you, unhealthy people with pre-existing conditions are the ones at risk! He survived cancer and had asthma and bronchitis, see here:

Young, otherwise healthy people die all the time of common ailments and no one bats an eye.
I know that Coronavirus is a terrible thing, and is worse than the flu, but it really seems now like everyone in society thought they were guaranteed living to 80 until the coronavirus arrived.
Have we veered off the topic?
Those complaints are true but I'd mostly direct them at the Union/Essex county corridor-very industrialized and generally low income. Runner-up would be lower Passaic county with Paterson and Camden county with (surprise) Camden. There are a few more miserable places (Salem) but for different reasons. I assume we get this reputation because you have to drive through the sh*ttiest parts of the state to get to NYC.

How much slicing do you have to do to keep convincing yourself not to care. "Well, it only applies to X and Y and Z people, so I don't care." What percentage of society needs to be "likely" to die from this for you to care?
I have a cousin who has had asthma her whole life who is now suffering from this illness. She isn't going to die, I hope, but she is in rough shape. Should I not consider her worthy of compassion because she had asthma, a "health condition"? Yes, she is vulnerable, along with a lot of other people, and that's the point. I might get sick, but even if I never do, my actions can affect others who will.
