Most of them originated from China, including "Spanish" flu and likely the black plague. The redundancy would be confusing. "Wuhan virus" is the most effective term.

You are absolutely right, but it has a name that the WHO is using and Trump is the only person using Chinese Virus. He is trying to deflect responsibility for his shortcomings as a leader. Yes he ended flights from china but he should have closed off all borders. How many people get the virus from people from Italy, Iran?

Let us not forget that the virus disproportionately affects the ACE II receptors, of which there are significantly more in Chinese and Asian people.

Also, it's possible we're dealing with an actual bioweapon leaked, intentionally or not, from the Wuhan Level-4 Lab.

However, the Chinese recently accused the U.S. of unleashing it through the military during the Military World Games in Wuhan in October...

Trump's "Chinese Virus" is a response to that. He also speaks of fighting "the invisible enemy" and that we will "defeat" them to claim "victory" in the "war."

There are many military ops and mass arrests underway right now as I type this. The "Chinese Virus" is, to some extent, allowing the opportunity for such events due to societal shutdown.

You may also notice that Google and Twitter algorithms have shifted. Results for searches normally suppressed and/or censored are suddenly popping up after ~3.5 years of being virtually irretrievable.

Interesting to note, Trump has repeatedly referenced WW2 and the young people who fought so valiantly and how the nation banded together.

To assume his comment is solely due to 'racism' or 'deflection,' I think, is asinine. There's a lot more going on than meets the eye.

It’s definitely not a bio weapon. The two sources of virus have been found and genome mapping has confirmed that it first appeared in a human host in China that was exposed to the to strains simultaneously. Exactly who was patient zero will probably never be known.

Good point. He is trying to cover over his initial poo pooing the virus and

calling it a Dem-inspired hoax. So he he calls it Chinese and claims he was the first to take steps to block it with his immigration policy at our border. Now he's going to claim he's been on it all along and it's another "win" for him.

But it's really his denial and stalling that had left us with too few tests or materials to mitigate it for a long time. People have died due to his/our tardy response.

"Chinese virus" is a dog whistle to re-energize the base. When in doubt, appeal to the racist base.

Most people recognize that the virus came out of China. They're worried about safety from the virus, not the name of it.

People stopped eating at Asian restaurants weeks ago because of fear. They fear products from China. They fear being around people from China. They fear being around China.

Is shutting the border down to China "racist" too? Because many on the Left said it was, even as they simultaneously accused Trump of not doing enough.

Fear of 'things' associated with China is a rational and useful response. It'll SAVE lives.

Just like the Left wanted to open the borders in Europe, in the U.S., to migrants to prevent "muh racism xenophobia bigotry" - a great idea that gave the Chinese Virus more ability to spread.
