You can never have too much toilet paper
I have a rental vacancy that might not fill due to job losses/uncertainty. The whole stimulus with joint filing, and kids will cover that for a little over a month. Only losing $200 a month in wage income. Saving a lot of money with two cars mostly parked. The money will just go into regular cash flow account, unless we get a tenant, then rainy day fund.
I'd like to spend it at local businesses, but everything is closing so I can't.
Maybe I'll get some take out food a few times, I'll tip more generously when I'm eating out post pandemic.

If I receive a check I will be donating the money to an organization(s) that can help support those who will be laid off or on reduced hours as a result of the pandemic.

That's exactly the issue.
You can't spend it on that because they're closed.
Giving someone like you (or me) an extra $1,000 doesn't help the people that need it.
And relying on random generosity is surely not the best way to help them.
A lot of these $1,000 checks will simply pad a lot of people's savings.
And if it gets to the point where they need to dip into it, $1,000 ain't gonna help much.
For many people, that will get them by for two weeks. A month for some on very bare essentials.
They can't send everyone $1,000 every 2-4 weeks for the rest of the year.
Spend it at TACO BELL one dollar menu item at a time!!!
my company just folded and I got laid off with no severance. I will be good short term, but for many $1000 will not be enough. Denmark is guaranteeing %75 of incomes. France is freezing rents. At this rate more people are going to die from the economic impacts than the virus itself.
About 5 shares of VOO.

Many of them are. Just look on Doordash or a delivery service.
I'll put it towards the taxes I owe.
$1000 will buy one loaf of bread in about a month.
My company also just folded and I got laid off with no severance. Short term I'll be ok, but my whole industry got wiped out, so these are some dark days for just about everyone I know.

Rent.
My wife and I both have good job security, and we have good savings. We don't need it. We will be donating it or spending it locally (whatever looks like it will do the most good for those most affected in our community).

Yeah, if you have cash.
Just kidding. You're a moran.
I won't get anything. I never get any benefits. Yet, I pay full taxes, payroll, income, social security etc.
Then right-wing politicians claim we are to blame.
Why do I stay? Because it's the same in other countries.
benefits need to be universal and not means tested. the right is running left of the dems at this point. honestly could see trump and folks becoming something like Le pen of Polands law & justice.
