I live in Oakland, across the bay from SF, and am also subject to the "shelter in place" order. The order specifically allows you to go running outside. I did eight miles this morning in Oakland and Berkeley, primarily along College Avenue and University Avenue. No one cared that I was running and there were plenty of others doing likewise.
Most of the non-food oriented shops on College and University were closed. My guess is that about 75% of the restaurants are closed and 25% open for take out or delivery only. My numbers may be way off since I was running earlier than most restaurants would normally be open.
The AC Transit buses which passed me were mostly empty and there way fewer cars on the street than normal.
The UC Berkeley campus was very quiet.
Life continues.
if instead going to the hills you run college/uni ave you should recalibrate your brain

Go away. Read the summary of fatalities then tell me why healthy working age citizens should be concerned. Shutting normal society down for a spike in fatalities among people over 70 is absolutely ridiculous.
All these trolls are too stupid to notice that the organ failures affect middle aged as well. They're survivable if you can time your organ failure to occur when there are still hospital ICU facilities available; that's going to be challenging if you're in a country with poor public health planning and facilities (such as the US, and many others).
As a former long-time San Franciscan, I have to raise an eyebrow at that "San Fran" diminutive!
Really!

I use to live in SF but it's been awhile. The current stories make it sound as if the entire city is covered in sh*t. Is it mostly in the downtown area or is it a problem out in places like the Richmond, as well?
The police have been a bit overwhelmed by the task of questioning all citizens out on the streets about the purpose of their travel. It's just really time consuming. San Francisco city limits is encompassed by San Francisco County, and the SF County Sheriff has deputization powers that City police do not, so the sheriff has tapped about 1,500 volunteers who are now given law enforcement powers. But it was still difficult to handle stopping and questioning everyone, so the first contingent of National Guard troops, who are now building temporary housing for themselves in the old military base called the Presidio (ironic), have been assisting as well. The first two days, many of them carried their rifles but it was freaking people out, so now they are working with just sidearms.
Oh wait, that's the movie Outbreak from 1995 with Dustin Hoffman.
In the Bay Area, everything is, of course, totally normal, save for less traffic and few stores open. OF COURSE YOU CAN GO OUTSIDE. Runners, walkers, hikers, and bikers everywhere. Life is good. Just keep clean, keep your distance, and be nice to your neighbors. Sorry if I popped your distopian fantasies.

Sanjay Gupta and another newscaster on CNN right now viewing real-time video of walkers and runners on waterfront in SF. MANY people out, most not at all observing the 6 ft thing. Gupta is castigating them for being so selfish. Good for him.
Fools in the US are going to have to experience death, panic and lockdown by threat of force before "MY NEEDS" get put aside for the common good.
Idiots. How many will die before Americans start to get it?
The fact that you watch CNN proves you're an "Idiot".

I am travelling at the moment, but last week it was still just deep in the loin, areas of soma and some streets in the mission that had these problems. The richmond and sunset are quite bucolic. I spend most of my time running in GGP or north of california and never see these things. Just the occasional dog crap that wasn't picked up.
OP needs to be banned from posting. It is SF, not Frisco or San Fran.
SF or GTFO...
This thread is proof that the entirety of America needs to be wiped clean...here we go! DEAD FUCKIN' BOOMERS!!!
I lived in Glenn Park down near the bottom of the J-car trolley last stop. Fairmont Drive, in a funky flat. Gotta say it was in the late sixties to 75. So all the miles I ran at 5-7am over to Diamond Heights and GG Park were a lot in the dark. Street lights helped a lot, but also gotta say dog crap was a problem at times. Dogs not so much.
But I learned to navigate all over the city at time and I grew to love it, the city and the run, tough hills and all. The Park was a dream come true but I had to run up to to the "roach clip" towers over and back. Nice but a bit dangerous sometimes.
Had a new baby and a job at the James Lick Jr. High. So I could walk to work and be more careful about the poop.
Basically, yes, dog poop was an issue. But what the hell in every city you have to put up with some crap.

It's people like you that make the rest of the country hate people from frisco. I live in sf and find the pretentious pricks like you so annoying. Who cares what they call it. Check your privilege. While you're at it double check who your president is. I bet you're still wondering how he won.
its frisco, bro
go back to omaha
+1
Who cares if you run at this point. Even if get in great shape you can't really go to nightclubs or anywhere you'd want to be to showoff your physique.
Fitness will matter less as people realize that they can't go out and party and try to pick up girls/guys anymore.
Monday was hills (Joaquin Park and Redwood Park), Tuesday flats, Wednesday combination of paved hills and flats, etc. At age 68 I cannot do the hills every day.

I went running yesterday and got phone # of two attractive young women, relieved to meet a cool healthy guy and who shared an interest in fitness. I will not have to run alone this week.
+2 and kudos on keeping a sense of humor in all this mess.
