Believe it or not there was a USATF National Championship held today. Tim Tollefson and Ashley Hawks won the USATF 50 mile trail championships in California.
According to the live thread on LRC events in Placer County California are still allowed to be held with under 250 people. We heard from a participant that the State gave permission for the event to take place as long as shuttles weren't used to take runners to the start (it was a point to point course).

Nice, something happened somewhere.
Here’s the thing: how close do people have to be to each other for it to be a gathering? An ultra event has people spread out over the course and many aid stations. So maybe if you designate certain aid stations as separate events you could find a loophole...
How ironic; half of this board hates on ultra running and now it’s the only thing we can talk about! -

Yeah maybe it will make Sportscenter top 10 by default -

Are there any more ultras going on? With no races anywhere, I might try a 50k or 50 miler. -
I think that we are missing the REAL news in running today:

Isn't "Cried" something that happens daily... nothing to see here -
Check ultrasignup.com for events. Plenty still going on

When I didn’t Boston a few years ago the body odor was horrendous. So there’s benefits to small races in the forest. Track and road racing are boring anyway. Time for a running revolution where we get back to running for what it is. Nature, rhythm, movement, fatigue, etc... Too many people have made it place, time, medals. Those things are meaningless.,

Irresponsible! This event will only make the situation worse!
But really, letsrun is gonna have to turn into a strictly ultra site for a awhile. -
Of course Ultras will still happen. No one does them that's how you can be a WR holder and nowhere near elite simultaneously.

Steven Kool, CMU alum, making his 50 miler debut in 7th!

Look at the results site linked in the first post. Looks like Tim ran mile 44 to the finish in 24:24 which seems really fast for a trail run... until you look at the 2nd position guy. He covered the same distance in four minutes! Maybe the top 5 all kipped the course?

says the guy who always finished way in the back. lol.
Yes, let's run the woods! Forget our watches and even forget competition. No times, no places. We are all ONE and all WINNERS> Just run, PURELY, with no ego. Naked through the woods like God intended. But.....make sure you wear deodorant, 'cause.....sweating is unnatural.
Ok snowflake. You belong on a treadmill.
