Almost anyone with a rational view sees Johnny Drama as a tragicomic figure, so kind of fitting that Centro relates to him.

Centro is a waste of life
Says some random anonymous guy on a message board.
It’s clear he thinks he’s a good poker player - he’s posted before about playing. I wonder if he has the ability after this loss to realize he should not play poker. He may be one of those guys who wants to “make his loss back” and spirals down. I guess time will tell, but he really should quit. He’s not good.
I think Wejo used to win a lot of money playing poker...
He should think about what he feels now, and imagine what it would feel like to have used that money to drill a well for safe drinking water for a bunch of people who have never had it. What a lasting sense of good that would provide him. And do that next time.

Dude, we're talking about Matt Centrowitz, Jr. here.
Also the money did not vanish, maybe the person who won it will pay for the well.
I have often though a fat centro would be more like turtle.
Either way, there is an admission to slapping swords.

No, I haven't. What car does he drive?

:)
Johnny Drama would be angry with himself (and want to win it back) after gambling away his $25K advance for shooting a pilot. Turtle might smoke up $5K of it and spend another $5K on sneaks and lids, but he's holding onto the rest.

Maybe I should tell that story. Had a huge cash in a tournament in the early history of LetsRun.com. LRC's history would probably be different without it.
If they legalize it again I'd consider playing again.
But to play at that level, Centro had better be a really good player and have a huge bankroll. From someone who used to be on the fringes of the pro poker world, so much of it is bankroll management, managing the ups and downs, etc.
On the game he played last night, are they advertising the fact he's an Olympic gold medallist? Can anyone play in these games? The pros were probably salivating at him being in the game.
I think most people lost way more in their stock porfolio.

Dollar value, sure. Percentage wise? Absolutely not.
Centro flushed $25k down the toilet (pun unintended). That's essentially an infinity % loss. Stock portfolios have dropped 30% from the Feb peak.
And, the stock portfolios will eventually go back up (could be a day, could be years...). While Centro's $25k is in gone forever.
A fool and his money are quickly parted.
video is down now :/
His risk taking and arrogance got him the Olympic 1500m gold.
