Except that it is.
Catch the flu virus, get sick, maybe develop pneumonia, possibly die, maybe not.
Catch the CVD-19 virus, get sick, maybe develop pneumonia, possibly die, maybe not.
What is the difference besides the name?
Both are viruses, both in very rare cases can kill you. PLEASE, tell me what you know that the experts don't.
If you are basing it off of the supposed higher death rate, that has been deemed a false stat because it hasn't gone around the planet yet and hasn't been exposed to a high enough percentage of people. The flu has, so we have an actual stat that means something. The best you can say is that the COVID-19 death rate cannot be accurately known because there is insufficient data.
Ah, well you're a real dumb f*ck aren't you? We have an annual vaccine for seasonal flu that while not perfect is very effective. We also know approximately how long the season lasts, and we know early on how bad the season is and how much we need to be proactive.
So far, we don't have a vaccine for COVID-19. We do not yet know if it will burn itself out like the flu does, and as Dr. Fauci has stated, it is at least 10 times more deadly than seasonal flu. And, you are incorrect, we have enough of a sampling now to have a very accurate reading of the death rate.
While young healthy people seem pretty protected from death so far, they can pass it on to elderly people or people who are compromised in some way and cause them to die.
The measures in place now are not intended to stop the virus from spreading, because it is too late for that. The goal is to slow the progression so that medical facilities can meet the demand.
You, sir, are an idiot.
