on occasion I feel like having music while running out side would be nice and I hate running with my phone. I already have a garmin watch that doesn't do music, and an apple music subscription. I wouldn't even mind chorded headphones I just don't want to buy an apple watch. I don't really own any music anymore.
Any suggestions for a small music player that can do apple or spotify?

You could use a tool DRmare Audio Converter for mac to help you make Apple Music locally, then move them to your devices for playing without your phone while running.

I've got a few different bits that I use running, but use them elsewhere primarily. Picked them up 2nd hand or refurbished. A lot of the time I take something I don't actually end up using it though.
old iphone SE (more likely to use this when going long distance off road, for mapping etc)
ipod nano (lighter, fits in shorts, if I'm doing some training, no spotify, but I do have an ipod touch I rate, which I'd consider using if I needed spotify, but this is an expensive option really)
Larger modern Android phone. Odd time I use this if meeting up with others etc, as they can contact me (but then less likely to use music with it). Use it with Salomon agile belt under t-shirt. I'm tempted to just switch the others to this in future tbh. Sometimes handy being able to get notifications via it to your Garmin watch. -

I have Garmin Watch but it can't access Amazon Music on the watch, because the Amazon Music Connect IQ app only works in a few countries..so I download Tunelf Amazon Music Converter to get Amazon Music songs on my Garmin wearable. works like a charm.
