Perfect-Tour of Watopia starts Monday...
:look:
The bike races on Zwift are obviously great and super competitive.
How are the running races however? Treadmill calibration is virtually impossible. How does it work?

I've only done a couple and there weren't many people involved. But makes treadmill running way more fun. Works off of a foot pod.

Bump. I'd love to know about this, if true.

Great... I already knew about that, it was easily found on google. But Im finding nothing about the invite being cancelled. That's why I asked.
I have found that the athletic department intends to limit spectators to a set number.
If you have any actual info to share, I'd like to see it. Maybe OP was just making stuff up to stir people up. I wouldn't be shocked if they end up cancelling it, but I have multiple high school kids who want to go and hope to compete for a top 3 finish, so I'd like to know asap if its cancelled.
Of course, I wouldn't be shocked if our district cancelled spring sports at some point, but I havent heard anything about that either.
Did not want to stir anything up. Stanford invite is not officially cancelled at this point. It simply looks like a very high probability outcome to me (University staff member tested positive, in person classes cancelled...). To make it clearer, please note that the other events mentioned have also not all been technically cancelled, some are only postpone (for now).
I’m not sure if you should start thinking about a Plan B for your athletes.
I would, but that’s just me.
That is sort of the point of this thread...

Interesting
The Abu Dhabi WTS triathlon which was to be held this weekend has been cancelled. WC triathlons are still being held, but who knows how long that will last.
I would love for a partnership between:
ITU (triathlon governing body)
Zwift (on line platform)
Wahoo (smart trainer)
Polar (HR monitor and foot pod)
Go Pro (video equipment)
Some type of electronic digital scale
...Maybe a treadmill company
...where they would organize an international Zwift duathlon (to maybe replace the in person triathlon until this
situation goes away)
Who knows if the Bermuda WTS event (April 18) will occur or not...
This is the time for Zwift to make a difference.

Ok, gotcha. I wont be surprised if it will be cancelled. But the OP made it sound like it already was cancelled, so I was checking.
Really no plan B for a meet like that. They're already planning on Arcadia. Obviously state is also a target. Just hoping to do one more high profile meet. Of course that's all assuming this doesnt spread worse than hoped and cancel all hs sports.
...making a replica of the Paris marathon course on Zwift (or London or Boston if they also get cancelled) would be cool. The Zwift event could go on at the same time as the originally planned event.
For Boston, you would need to prove your BQ of course.
Zwift: please make a Boston (or London) marathon course available. You don’t need to make it super pretty for now.
Any of you know what an FKT is?
I do. F is for Fastest. T is for Time. Up to you to figure out the K.
FKT stands for Fastest known time
and usually refers to somewhat famous trails and the fastest time some one ran it non stop. Like the AT trail or John Muir trail.
The "official" website is here:

Also interesting. Not too many people on that platform however.
Strava segments are probably more interesting. But they seem to be pretty random. Creating a segment off a standard race could alleviate that. I guess that you could have that virtual race. Best time of the year on that 5k segment for example. Missing the head to head that you get on Zwift however. I love the bike races on Zwift. Super challenging. Usually 100+ people in the races. Somebody else here said that running races are good too. Simply not enough participants.

London is on there.
London is on Zwift but not the full marathon course. It is based on the Prudential Ride 100 cycling course and has since had some additions. But the actual marathon route is not there.
Zwift is there as a training tool and a social platform primarily. Races as such are more for fun because as yet it’s not possible to verify that everyone is actually ’running’ and if they are , that their equipment is correctly calibrated. So although running races exist and are great fun to do, they can’t be fully relied upon to be an accurate representation of what would happen outside.
But Zwift is amazing when used as a training tool. The workout and group workout function is superb with clear on screen information about each section of the workout. Speed required, distance, time, HR, cadence.
It’s best to use a smart treadmill if you’re lucky enough to have one. Next best would be to use the Stryd footpod. After that any footpod will generally work but won’t be as solid as the Stryd. There’s also an optical treadmill belt speed sensor called the Runn Smart Treadmill Sensor which is decent.
Also worth noting that unlike cycling, running is completely free. So it’s worth trying out whilst you are in isolation!
