Last year, we shared the story of American long jumper Jarrion Lawson, who was banned for four years in 2018 after testing positive for trace amounts of epitrenbolone. Lawson said it was due to contaminated beef he had eaten the day before. The amount of epitrenbolone -- a metabolite of trenbolone, an anabolic steroid used to promote muscle growth in cattle -- was .65 ng/ml, roughly 10 times less than the amount found in Ajee' Wilson's system when she was banned (and subsequently cleared) in 2017.
Lawson appealed his case, but the Athletics Integrity Unit denied his appeal. He then appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and they finally overturned his ban today.
In all, he missed 19 months of competition in the prime of his career. Lawson's agent, Paul Doyle, is not happy with the AIU or WADA and we'll have more on that in a few days. For now, here's Lawson's statement and the original article:
