Postponed to 18 October
London will face immense pressure.

Hoping they go the way of Tokyo- ie elites only.

I hope they don’t follow Tokyo by stealing people’s money. Maybe follow Rome.

Why postpone it when so many people are going to die? Even those lucky enough to survive will not be trained properly due to the certainty of worldwide mandated quarantines. This is bad and it's only just beginning. I don't believe the news media is even reporting the real numbers of infected. I'm sure they've been told to leak the numbers over time to stop the spread of worldwide panic.
I am surprised the LA Marathon is going on as planned after the Gov of California Newsom declared California is in a state of emergency a couple of days ago.
There is a lot of potential for exposure if someone is contagious at the expo or on the buses to the start or in the corrals before the start or if contagious runner touches a volunteer who is handing out water and that person touches a lot of the water cups he/she is handing out.
Since Los Angeles is going forward, I wonder what it will take for Boston to cancel or modify to only allow elites.
Most of the runners won't be dead. The fear is that a runner might catch the virus and spread it to a group that is at higher risk like their grandparents or people they know with immune problems or compromised pulmonary issues.
Something like 80 percent who catch it won't be a huge deal. The other issue is the overflow demand on the medical facilities. Most people who have to go to a hospital or seek more medical help will be likely ok if they get care, but if there is an overflow of demand where doctors or facilities are too impacted by a huge increase in demand of care that is a problem.
The numbers and news are not accurate. This is way worse than what the media is telling us. The death toll on this will be massive. Mass worldwide quarantines are coming.

Chill Helen
So assuming it goes off in October. Will they then have next year's race only six months later in April 2021?
Kipchoge will be breathing a sigh of relief if London is cancelled ;)

There's more of a hazard from the needles and feces in the streets from the "unhoused citizens" in LA than there is with a risk of coronavirus.
Both Mickey Mouse land's are still open. In Paris and L.A. Seems like an easier place to get it than a marathon.
Millions are dieing daily from a horrendous virus and you care about a thon? selfish
Source for the millions dying every day?

This is true. It’s no coincidence that regular flu deaths are up 65% this year. Most likely, due to no intentional malice, Covid 19 deaths have been coded as flu deaths because testing is just now becoming available.
Joe Biden
Barcelona marathon cancelled (due next week), to add to Rome & Paris. Tokyo obviously the first big victim.
I'm in London, and preparing for this one like many thousands, but fully aware that it might be canned. Just hope they tell us soon, as it seems a bit pointless doing specific sessions on a schedule for a date next month that may be cancelled. We've also got Brighton (c.9k) and Manchester (c.15k) the weeks before.
I know lots of people who work in the industry who's businesses will be affected by cancellations (suppliers to the races, retailers at the expos, etc).
