Did most men already have Next%s and didn't fancy a race-day switch?
Quite a few of the sponsored Nike pros didn't wear them. It's a completely different feel. I heard the new version is heavier and one person told me it feels clunky.
Abdi wore Next% and made team. Lagat wore them as well. I'm not sure about Derrick and Bumbalough but they were talking about wearing Next%.
So it would be interesting to know if Nike did testing on their athletes and some people don't respond to the Alphafly or respond better with the Next%. Or maybe if they didn't do testing everyone would be better in the Alphafly no matter how it feels.
Jake Riley decided to race in them and he made the team. Beforehand he told me he had heard of the studies showing how much better they were and he'd have to compare that with how he felt in them when he did strides on Friday. Clearly, he made the right choice.
