Now that the mary trials are over, there's only 15 weeks for those who went home devastated to get their track game together.
I hope this is finally True, or Bumby or Derrick's year. They will need to crack the ARMY guys, but I think it's doable. That said, if he decides to run the 10km, Lomong is certainly the class of this field. Korir looked good last weekend, but he went hard all the way to the line which is going to take some time to recover from... means shorted season. Bumby and Derrick on the other hand were both done by 18ish. They should be ramping up hard training again by the end of this week. I think it will take a sub 27:30 to make this team. Is there anyone else who can put up that kind of time?
The women's race is going to an absolute dog fight. Sisson, Huddle, and Hall, all dropped out by 20ish and as long as they aren't injured should be favorites. Thweatt, Bruce, Bates, and Taylor, all went hard to the finish. It's probably going to take a sub 31:45 to make this team though and that might be out of reach for Bruce and Taylor and Thweatt. And then there is Hasay. How does she rebound from the last few races? Her PR of 31:39 is from 2014. Can she still turnover like that? Nope, I don't think so.
So my early early picks,
Lomong, Korir, True
Sisson, Huddle, Marielle Hall
Who you got?
