Did anyone pick him during the prediction contest?
I did not expect such a performance from him. It was some freaking brilliant racing.

Inspiring performance. While others complained about the challenging course, he went out and ran a PR on it.
I'll just put this here. Not gonna lie, it got a little dusty when I saw this.

solid runner. top FL finisher, all-american tonnes of times in college, 27:59 10,000 back when.
2:10 in Chicago 2019 in the only marathon of his comeback.
Top American in Chicago, 4th fastest American last year. I had him in my top 5, just not top 3.
pogo shoes = NOT VALID.
Didn't care for the swearing in the video either. Ever heard tradcath Rupp drop a f-bomb? I think not!

About half the guys in the race had Alphaflys, and another third had the older vaporflys... None did what he did. 2:10 on this course is amazing. He is a 27:59 guy, beat lots of other sub 28 10k guys. We have former Americans that are 2:07 and 2:08 guys that never broke 28, why is it so hard to believe that he ran 2:10? I look forward to the day when we quit giving all the credit to the shoes.
Look at the women's race, 7 out of top 8 were NOT wearing Nike shoes. In men's race 3 or 4 out of the top 10 wer not wearing Nike, but a higher percentage than that in the whole race were wearing them. So Non-nike shoes did disproportionately better in both races than Nike shoes when compared to how many people were wearing them.
Good point. I can't believe we're going to have an Olympic team member who has been caught using cursewords. That should totally be an automatic disqualification.

I'd like Rupp a lot more if he dropped an f-bomb on occasion.

That is ace - always great to see the underdog win.

Does it make you suspicious when people preface a statement with "not gonna lie" or "I'll be honest with you"?
Is it unusual for you not to be lying? Should I not trust what you normally say since you had to highlight the fact that you are now not lying with this particular statement?

Is he going to be admonished for the way he handles the flag?
I posted this earlier on another thread. I still believe it:
Talk about not losing faith! Riley was with Rupp and the peloton until 13.2, 48 seconds behind Shrader. But then Riley started to fall behind Rupp at the rate of about 4 seconds per mile. Shrader dropped out, of course, and Riley was moving up (13th at mile 16, 2nd at mile 25). But at Mile 25 he was still 57.29 seconds behind Rupp. Riley finished 42 seconds behind Rupp, meaning he gained 15 seconds on the winner in the final 1800 meters. You don’t have a performance like that just based on inspiration. What a smart race Riley ran!
What were his PRs in high school?
Google tells me he ran a school record 9:00.5 in the 3200m.
"Who the heck is Jake Riley?"
A 2020 United States Olympian.
His future will never be quite the same.
Good on you Jake!
Is this not the ten year younger brother if Jonathon Riley? Or is that someone else? I thought he had a younger brother about Jake Riley's age.
He also won the Club XC open race in 2012.
No, this is not Jonathon Riley's younger brother lol
Jake Riley went to the always strong Sehome High School in Bellingham, Washington. He had a great rivalry with cross-town Bellingham High School student Chris Kwiatowski. Jake had a 3200m PR right around 9:00, and won the 2A state XC title, but Chris decisively won the state 2A 3200m title their senior year around 9:05.
I think Jake may have been a Footlocker finalist his senior year too.
Jake was a year behind Sehome teammate Mason McHenry who was something like a 1:50/4:15 athlete.
