Following the OP's logic, any and all running events should abide by the following:
Only runners under age 40 should be allowed to compete. Masters athletes are old, slow, and not a good look for events.
No smiling, colorful socks, or other fun is allowed. Running must be presented to the public as a joyless endeavor practiced only by socially awkward introverts, incels, people with eating disorders, and Type A personalities with anger management issues.
Road use permits and traffic control will be granted one time for each event. If the event does not produce a world record, it can never be held again.
Crying? Injured? Revocation of your USATF membership for life.
For track events, only athletes that have attained the Oly "A" standard are permitted to enter and race at any level - open, college, high school, age group, parks and rec, etc. Track surfaces are expensive and slow no talents should not be allowed to damage the surface with their shuffling and longer ground contact times.
The Trials were a clear mockery of all things holy. I am kind of shocked that the men's field wasn't four times larger considering how many of you sub 2:08 capable keyboard warriors opted not to lay down a qualifier and participate.
