Great day for the cheaterflys. Curious how many of the top 20 were wearing them.

Was Reilly wearing just the Next%?
The shoes are nothing but a smoke screen for a new PED which is improving the times.
How dumb can you be.
Yes, it looked like Riley was wearing them

Maybe the alphafly isn't that much better than the Next%. I don't feel bad about not getting it.
Plus look at all the favorites who crashed and burned wearing that new shoe today.
Next% > Alphafly!??!?
During the final mile or do of the women's race, it was interesting to see a couple of guys running about 2:40 and fading wearing Alphaflys. Proof that the shoes don't help everyone or indemnify you from a bad day.

THEY ARE SHOES! I see losers wearing arm sleeves every damn race running 19 minute 5ks, no different.
Can anyone look into how many cheaterflys in the top 20? That may say a lot.
Fastest woman was wearing Hokas, right?
She was the best woman on the day. If an equal woman was there in alphaflys Aliphine would have been destroyed. You race the competition.
We all know Nike hates women, so of course they would design their shoes to help men and not women.
Seriously it wouldn't completely shock me if the properties of the CF plate (thickness/stiffness/flexibility) were tuned for the average pro male's weight and are less beneficial to anyone who isn't the same weight as the average pro male runner.
All day I heard Nike, Hoka, New Balance and even Asics. Is adidas out of the long distance game now?

And that's why this whole thing sucks. Everyrace now conversation is about shoes. Hell Rupp ran 2.09 on a brutal course, Riley came from nowhere and Abdi ditched his walking stick to qualify again. All Alphaflys
Out of the American long distance game, In Europe they are still prominent.
It wasn’t the shoes! All 3 that made the men’s team went to Pac-12 universities. That’s the key!
So Riley was Vaporfly, and the other two Alphafly.
Kipyego Hoka, and the other two Alphafly.
Correct?
Anyone know about the rest of the top ten in each race?

Riley was definitely in Alphaflies. I believe at least the top 5 men were in AFs. I definitely noticed that every time there was a non-AF runner up in the front, he was eventually overtaken and replaced by someone wearing AFs. The AFs utterly dominated the men's race.
Tuliamuk was in Hoka, Seidel in Saucony, and Kipyego in Nike. This same pattern was noticed years ago with the VFs that they are less dominant in women's racing than in men's. There are several possible explanations for this.

Jake Riley's studies are in mechanical engineering, so he likely knows more about it than most posting to this board. In summary, he called them 'trampoline shoes'. The day before the race is when Riley was first tested the af's, and the day he made his decision to run in those for the trials race.

Actually understanding how 'mechanical advantage' works in the shoes will be lost on the majority of the masses willing to accept simple advertisement like somehow just placing a carbon plate in a shoe makes it a faster shoe.
