I just finished my indoor season which was pretty successful in some of the pre-championship meets. Ran about a 20 sec converted PB from 8:50 outdoor to 8:37 flat track (8:31 banked/oversized), and also had about a 6 second PB in the 1500m (3:56)
The whole last month of my training before the regional meet was horrible, however. I just couldn't get my legs under me, easy day pace slowed down a lot, but my HR was normal. My workouts were way off target because my legs would just tie up so easily, and I had to do so much rolling out and recovery. Physio seemed to help, but the once I finally tapered and seemed to get my legs working again, I ran like trash at the regional meet (8:55, 4:02), placing near last.
Got my iron tested after and it was 33, which the doctor said was probably not ideal for me but not terrible, so I am on ferrous sulfate now.
At this point I am just looking to perform well at nationals on June 30th, so I have a lot of time to get prepared. But I am not sure how much time I should take off right now. I was anticipating 4-5 days but I'm on my 5th and my body feels tired and not ready to go.
How long should I take off? Am I overtrained?
I don't want to lose fitness but also don't want to get started and burnout before my last junior nationals.
Thanks!!!!
