I think we need a little perspective here. So far in the 2019-2020 flu season (Oct 1 through Feb 15), there have been 280,000-500,000 hospitalizations and 14,000-41,000 deaths in the USA due to flu, according to the CDC.
Yes, Covid 19 is a big deal and worse when you catch it than the flu, but flu season will be over in a month in the Southern US and a month and a half or so in the Northern states.
Total US deaths will probably be less than a typical Chicago gunshot weekend.
The media has a vested interest in overhyping Covid 19 because their ratings have been tanking and sensationalism generates more viewers and more revenue.
Unlike China, the US is prepared and our population is not packed together like sardines.
Frankly, I don't believe the official Chinese government story about this being bats and a wet market. I think it's a weaponized virus that escaped from their bio lab. Fortunately, in addition to being incompetent enough to allow it to escape, they were also too incompetent to make it very deadly. I'm guessing that heads will roll at the bio lab, assuming they aren't already dead.
