Soft? For trying to train through an issue and then ended up actually getting hurt. Don’t get the hate for Stinson. Seems to be a great guy

Isn't Brad Hudson his coach...er, sharing coaching duties?
Yes, but it is not much different from people who actually think that writing it. It's subtle.
P.S. JIM 4 THE WIN!

Why would anyone follow the advice of Ritz on training?
Unless that advice is how to get injured and often. Stinson had potential. too bad he put his faith in the worst coach possible.
He improved under Ritz compared to his time with Brad Hudson. So I guess that Ritz can't actually be any lower than 2nd worst coach possible...

Some American History X revenge right there
Unfortunate for Stinson, would definitely have shook things up at the front of pack. Feared this news when we kept seeing kinesiology tape all round his knee.

Until a guy can break 13:15 in the 5k, can we PLEASE stop calling them a great runner?? No one who can't break 13:15 should even entertain the idea of going to the Olympics just to get curb stomped by the East Africans. Sure, it looks good on your resume, but the American standard of "great" is not that great compared to what it takes to be a world beater.
It's a completely different event. I can remember a guy (Kenyan) that competed at Louisville, ran a 13:40's PR, good but nothing crazy. Soon after college he was a contender in top marathons like Boston, running something like 2:07. Meanwhile we have guys like Lagat and Chelenga who have run 27:0's in 10k, and Lagat ran 27:40 for 10k just four or so years ago, and only muster up 2:15's, and Lagat's 2:12 on his second try.
We can even look at other crazy fast guys that can't even translate the half marathon to the marathon, let alone a 5k to a marathon. Kamworor, a world record holder for half marathon, no where near the equivalent in his marathons. Same with Zersenay TADESE, 58:23 half marathon, only 2:08 for the full marathon. There are guys with 14:20's/14:30's 5k pr's that have run 2:12/2:13. And sub 14 guys that haven't made the olympic trials.

Brad isn’t his coach. Brad is now group coaching In Austin and poaching ......err.......giving advice to other people’s athletes.

I was thinking the same thing. Don't get me wrong: Ritz has accomplished a ton in his career, and I don't doubt that he's very knowledgeable about training; however, if he's giving me a rah-rah, come to Jesus speech, I'm going to think long and hard about how many times he hasn't made it to the start line because he was injured and then act accordingly.
Anyway, I'm bummed for Parker. I really wanted to see him race well.
Well you don’t have to worry about Ritz giving you any speech, time, or energy now do you..? You’ll be along the sidelines with most of the other cowards, untalented and lazy turds. So many opinions..so little substance.
So he's only going to run 25.7 miles and then stop?

Thanks. I saw him in a training video with PS, but it was (evidently) taken last fall (before(?) Chicago).

While that's absolutely heartbreaking for Parker, what kind of egotistical quote is this?
This bugged me too.

That's heartbreaking to hear. Parker is one of the most talented American long distance runners on the scene right now and it's a shame that he's not going to be able to show what he can do at the Trials.
He's an even better person. Stellar guy. Truly wonderful human being.
Good luck, Parker, a lot of love out here for you!
Parker improved his time and under Ritz his fitness was slightly better. Parker just went out way too fast for the marathons he raced under Brad.
He was on 210 pace a few times before Ritz began coaching him. Was a matter of time before he did it.
Thank you for that and your devotion to our sport.
You're a model of courage and character.

That's not tough, it's soft in the head. There's a reason guys like this aren't picked up by teams like Bowerman, thinks he's already a star at this level.
Yeah sure he did
What would you rather have him do? Just drop as soon as he first started to feel pain in his knee?
Don’t think he believes he’s already a star but believes that he’s put in the work and has the drive to become a star, two different things
