Several of these guys train in T-shirts OVER long sleeve shirts. What's the point? I could see a t shirt underneath a longsleeve, but over makes no sense. Must get to the bottom of this.

This. You've gotta be cool, just like the cool thing to do is move to Boulder. Gotta do some other edgy things as well.

Is that edgy? A t-shirt over a long sleeve shirt? Maybe I don't know what edgy means.

Depends on the shirts. If the long sleeve fits tighter than the short sleeve shirt, then the long sleeve should be under.
As a whole, the guys who post on here are strangely obsessed with things like this. What's up? Fashionistas? Narcissism? Related to this selfie thing? Who cares what a pair of running shoes look like? If they feel good, perform well and can be had for a good price, who gives af?
Cuz it's kinda like that in-between zone of, not warm enough for just a long sleeve, not cold enough to warrant a jacket. The short sleeve adds one extra thin layer to your shirt, which keeps your core warm, and also gives you the option to roll up the sleeves.
More likely that the wearer is a fashionista given how useless the extra t shirt is.
Because when it's slightly cold, it's nice to have two layers on your core. As you run, you can take off the short sleeve shirt if you start to over heat. It's not too difficult, bro. It beats those stupid arm sleeve things.
It’s called advertising their brand. They aren’t wearing it for comfort, you see a picture of them wearing it because that’s what they sell. They don’t sell long sleeve shirts with Tinman on them, hence they wear the short sleeve over.

Theoretically, sure.
Practically, no. Where does the tee shirt go then. I'd rather keep wearing the tee shirt and sweat a little more while I finish out my run than carry it in my hand.
Usually if it's cold I wear a long sleeve tee shirt. If I'm feeling cooler or the weather is cooler, then I wear a short sleeve tee shirt over the long sleeve. I have never thought of this as abnormal.
True cold weather requires a jacket, but when the weather in so miserable to require a jacket while running I have no shame in staying indoors.
I do this. My long sleeve running shirts are made of breathable wicking material. Sometimes just the long sleeve shirt isn't quite enough, so I throw a T shirt over it to keep the wind from penetrating the more breathable running shirt underneath.
I wouldn't want to put the T shirt under the long sleeve running shirt because a) the running shirt is fairly tight fitting and wearing a loser fitting T shirt underneath would be uncomfortable on the same order as wearing boxers under running tights, and b) the T shirt doesn't wick sweat as well as the running shirt, so I'd rather have the running shirt be the layer that is against my skin.
