Told by our AD yesterday that noone is allowed to wear the shoes at either outdoor track or xc next year. Not all runners in the state have access or funds to purchase them.
We were all in agreement.
Completely fake news
What is different? They ran 5k in them at 4:20 pace and 10k at 4:30 pace. So why woukd high school 3200 runner at 4:30 pace be different? Iowa State wore them on 300 meter track for the 3000.
And BYU guys were 6th and 7th in the 5k and lost to people not in VFs? Seems like spikes might have helped 1-5. Closing speed is probably harder to get in the VFs, as the BYU guys were only a few seconds back from the winner. In spikes they probably finish higher
Are Nike sponsored pros wearing VFs on the track or spikes? I would assume that Nike and its athletes will have the best idea of what will work better on the track, not Iowa State or BYU.
This is clearly a troll post.
Good try troll
Doubful. If like most other ADs out there, I doubt they even go to your meets, track or cross. I've coached seven years and have seen ours at any.
Did happen. Williamsport HS , MD and will be the rule statewide next year.
There are so many asinine topics on this messageboard - why is one that is true and problematic referred to as a troll.
Get a life guy
I’ll believe it when I see it
I think this can be a true story. Some AD probably read an uneducated article saying the shoes are "mechanical doping." Still, how many ADs go to races? Zero.
The kids can wear whatever they want and nobody will stop them.
Sounds like your coach is limiting your freedom of expression. You should consider a lawsuit.
Pretty sure the Ted Stevens Act (Federal Law) also applies to high schools-- can't set eligibility criteria to participate that's more restrictive than the IAAF. The IAAF hasn't banned Vaporfly's.
Please let your AD know that other athletes can’t afford spikes either. Also, that many other sports have shoes\equipment that are too expensive for a lot of families so it should be agreed that all sports will be canceled effective immediately.
The only allowed sport is barefoot running

We all agreed.
Let me guess: your mom bought you some VaporFly's, and now you're desperately trying to come up with convincing philosophical arguments about why it's okay to wear cheater shoes that other people's moms can't afford?
I have a pretty good runner, aiming to defend his state 3200 title against a top ten FL finisher. When the VF Flyknit went on sale for $150 a couple of weeks ago I had him order a pair. I told him to save them for college, but for now he just needs to keep them in a bag the day of the state meet because if his rival laces them up he needs to put his on too. Kinda crappy it’s come to that. Will be interesting to see what’s on the feet of guys at Arcadia, that’ll be the first real pic of whether or not the top HS guys are in them yet or not
He can't wear them in college. His team will provide shoes. So you had him throw that money down the drain.
Really? States set age limits. States set transfer rules. States set drinking rules. States set academic rukes. States set event limits. States set lower hurdle heights. States use lighter shots.
