!! Caveat - this is just my experience !!
I’m not a huge meat eater but decided to test myself by going vegan for a month. Here’s what happened.
Mileage down from 80mpw to barely 40mpw - never enjoyed a single run after day 5
Had to abandon interval workout - got to my 5th 1k repeat and couldn’t get below 80s per lap - normally crush 70s per lap or below
Felt like I never recovered from workouts and even my slow runs felt tough
Energy levels crashed about 1 week in
Stool went green and runny after day 4
Vision went weird 3 weeks in
Had heart palpitations and weird feeling in chest
Got strange cravings for metal objects about 2 weeks in
Skin looked pale and grey - colleagues kept asking if I was sick
Hair looked thin at end of the month
S$x drive vanished on day 5, gf started complaining that my thing looked shrivelled
Lost 10lbs overall on a normally 140lbs frame
Not sure if it’s just me or a huge adjustment but going vegan sucked so bad that I can’t believe people actually do this. I Took lots of B12 and other vitamins along the way to help but no idea if this made things worse or not.
I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy but has anyone else tried to go vegan for a bit?
