But we all know that he could have cantered the first 400 in 46 seconds and then jogged the second in 53 to be the first man under 1:40.
Beautiful track.
I coached a kid who was a 48-49 second runner and he ran a 1:59
It was actually 2.03
But anyway it was a training time trial not a race.
What track is that / where is it? It's in Bloemfontein, Free State per the article below.
Based off the video time it looks like his splits were ~ 60.x / 62.x for a 2:03.low ?
Another video from different angle (from another thread by the same OP)
Sorry that was the youtuber's page, here is the direct link to the other race vid
And it was a grass track, not as fast as a normal track. I'm pretty sure this is actually the track that he regularly trains on.
I hope he can run sub 45 again this year before the Olympics so there can be some extra excitement in Tokyo.
It's the Pellies Park Athletics Field[\b]
Interestingly the city has at least one other (well maintained) grass track at Eunice Astro which is also really close to Pellies Park. There's multiple other dirt tracks around the city and one all weather track.
Glad he's back and I hope he stays healthy. The 400m will be much more interesting with him in it. Plus he's that much more interesting to LRC now that we have at least one datapoint for his 800m ability even if it was early season on a grass track.

he ran 10.2 in the 100 there, so he looks well on the way.
Good for him
Wait a second, is that a drainage ditch in place of a rail? Geez imagine stepping into that and breaking something? Recipe for disaster

Yeah, stepping on a rail is soooo much safer.
actually it was a 1:57. If you watch the video carefully you'll see that there is a glitch at around just before the 200m mark. the video replays that part 2 times. it's cause I had to put two videos together.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
