I was also wondering that. But let's not forget that two years ago Brodey Hasty ran 4:00.05 and never broke 4 indoors or even outdoors that season. He has yet to break 4. Lets see what Culpepper does.
That kid is gonna be good. And his parents are good people. = new T&F star

Cruz is our best hope until Colt Goucher goes out to the shed and finds the mason jar....
Because LRC has other things to worry about like at getting angry at Jim Walmsley fans, transgender high school athletes, Tinder hook ups, trying to cure coronavirus using bro science, and Vaporfly iterations. Some high school kid with famous parents almost broke 4:00? Boring!

Because the track was oversized.

The year is 2027
According to the Daniels' VDOT Running Calc, a 4:00 mile is equivalent to a 7:56 3000.
illegal track lolz
Isn't the banked track conversion even more than the oversized track conversion?
Why should we care? It is still smaller than 400.
More stressed that no one is talking about the Sam Worley fall and if he’s okay or not.
Maybe they should make the track 200 meters and make some room for spectators. Most of the indoor races I've seen have absolutely no place for people to sit.
The University of Washington has little tolerance for T&F as it is devoted to concussion ball. The UW kicked its outdoor track out of its Stadium to a back parking lot area. Most high schools in the area are a better T&F site than the UW. For a Pac-12 school it is an utter embarrassment.
As for the indoor Demsey facility it is an oversized 300+ track surrounding the concussion ball indoor training field. The UW T&F folks are lucky to be able to run a few indoor meets after the concussion ball season is over.

Sure. I think the Washington track is about as fast as an outdoor track if you take into account that there is no wind, etc.
I was just responding to the guy that mentioned that the track was illegal. I thought he was responding to my post comparing Cruz's 4:00 to Nico's 7:56. But Nico's 7:56 was on a banked track, which I think is even faster than a 400m outdoor track (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I read that Drew Hunter's 7:59 was equivalent to a 7:53 on a banked track somewhere.

Don’t knock the Coronavirus thread. That’s going to be the biggest story of the 20’s.... across all walks of life... public health (obviously), economics, pop culture, sport (the 2020 Tokyo games are going to be cancelled, for example), etc.
