How does one develop speed for the 800 m race?
I am a 45 year old masters runner. Never trained for 800 before.
Could I just rely on intervals at race pace? Or do I need to do 100 m all out sprints?
Thanks.

If you're worried about doing all out sprints then at least doing 400m pace work would be sufficient.
100-150m reps at 400m pace are solid. Focus on form and relaxation. Will make 800m pace feel a bit easier.
You could also work on top end speed by doing short 40-80m hill sprints. A bit easier on the body mechanically to do it on a hill rather than flat ground.
